About to attempt to clean headlights.....

and I would like suggestions before I go about it. I came across this thread and figure I am going to give it a try. But if you read post 15 in reply to 13, it says to not wet sand without prior experience which I don't have. I am just going to use an Orbital I have and I purchased the Auto X. Any suggestions/tips before I go about this? Is there any safe way for me to sand it for a noob? Thanks!

Its not all that hard...even for a noob...BUT...you must take your headlight off your car or you will damage some other part of your car... Yes you can do it on the car, but with no prior experience, I dont recommend it...

Also, you really need a rotary to get the headlights perfect...i don't think a PC can generate enough heat...I've only done it with a rotary...

If you do decide to try it, use Meguiars PlastX...works like a charm!

On the B5 is quite easy to remove the HL, but on other cars you either can't or many things have to go away (mazda3 for ex)

Just make sure to tape the surroundings well. If you're limited to a pc.. then don't try wet sanding. Just go with the pc with an orange or yellow pad with plasX

I just ended up using the orbital with the wool pad and Maguire's Auto X. I don't know if it made that significant of a difference, as I will have to check when the sun is really beaming on the car. I actually just purchased some aftermarket headlights, but would not want to sell the current ones to an individual with the cloudy effect. Not cool. And I def do not want to damage them by a novice attempt at wet sanding.

Going by the advice of others, I don't think I should even attempt the wet sanding as the orbital would not generate enough heat for a clean polish. Maybe I will purchase a buffer in the future and attemot again legit before selling them. Cool first experience though as I never knew of any product like such. Should come in handy later on.
