S4 exhaust on 3.0...

I have a full stock s4 exhaust laying around in my garage for about 6 months now. i know one other person has done this on their avant. Not looking for any big power gains or anything but how would this differ in the sound, especially if i keep that flap open. (s4 muffleres have a valve that closes and recirculates the gases so it's sounds quieter at higher rpm).

Anybody else has done this? or do you have any insight on it? The look alone will be a bit bettter... the tips are larger and shinier than my tips are looking right now.

was going to do some serious modding this year but i went to london and im gong to antigua tomorrow morning (caribbean) then i still have 2 other trips planned b4 the end of the summer. so i guess it's next summer for all my cosmetic mods. (dont wanna get my rims in the winter)

I do! I do! It makes it it sound real mean dude. Imagine an r32 on steroids....especially if you keep the flap open. I will try and get some sound clips up tonight for you. In terms of power gains, Im not really sure. I assume you already have an intake as well? If not, get on that as well. It does make the car kinda loud when you step on it, and between 3-4k rpms the sound really hits you....and everyone else around. By far the best mod I've done on my car....besides the 19" smoked RS6 reps :)

personally I have never heard the sound of a S4 exhaust on the 3.0. I guess it will sound deeper.
if you really want sound, go to an exhaust shop and tell them to cut off the center resonators replace them with straight pipes which give you more sound(might give you drone as well) and you will save some weight haha. or you can take the rear resonators off as well and cops will be chasing you all the time, lol.
I took off my center resonators off my borla, it has some drone but I am fine with it. once the exhaust opens up, boy, it screams. when I pass any cops I just lay off the gas so I have no trouble. and I short shift with TIP so much when a cop is following me which happened twice and one time he followed me for two miles. that was insanely a long distance

well i dont wanna cut the resonators out, i was thinking the s4 exhaust would have a lil deeper tone. also the look will be better since the tips are larger.

yup, they are crimped between the resonators and mufflers. pretty lame huh? part of the reason I upgraded cat-back.

the better question for this thread is this:

can the 3.0 guys use AFTERMARKET S4 exhausts (catback obviously) on their cars? if so, what are the potential advantages/disadvantages of doing so? are there any differences in these exhausts at all? to me they look the same minus the flapper on the s4 mufflers (which i got one of for free and i will be experimenting with that LOL)

maybe the real thing to be discovered here is that s4 guys could run a 3.0 catback (assuming they're the same) and save some $$ and possibly have a couple new options as opposed to dishing out for their (probably) more expensive prefabbed exhaust systems


..just throwing some thoughts out there.

U can upgrade to a catback s4 exhaust aftermarket, Im running the milltek s4 exhaust on my a4 and love the sound it makes. It makes a sound close to that of the R32, I enjoy it every time I drive haha!

i heard the clips, im not trying to be insulting but it almost sounds like the engine is still cold and has a raspy sound. I really like the magnaflow exhaust on the 3.0 personally, but to each his own i suppose lol.

so from what I've gathered this S4 exhaust attachment ended up working out for the A4? Because right now I'm pursuing a free one (without shipping) and would love to give my car a little bit of extra sound before I start adding an Ultrasport body in the summer
