Fast Intentions Exhaust Arrived & Installed (Review)

First off, I want to thank Danny @ FI for helping me select the RIGHT exhaust for my driving style. After talking with him, I ended up ordering the FI Cat-Back/8" Resonated/X-Pipe exhaust. It took 1 week to have it delivered to me from CA to NYC. I met up with AudiA4_20T who was willing to do the install of this exhaust. I would normally do the install myself but living in Manhattan really restricts me from keeping those types of tools in my apt. Clint (AudiA4_20T) was very knowledgable and had all the right tools for the job. The install took roughly an hour from start to finish and there no issues during the process.

Startup: We started up the car after in the install and all you can hear is the new growl of the V8 in combination with a racer bike exhaust. The sounds is intoxicating and sounds very similar to a Gallardo. As you rev the engive the deep growl disapates and you hear the high reving V8.

Driving: With the exhaust installed, i just love to rev it up now. City driving is amazing and head turning while highway driving has absolutly no drone or any annoying exhaust note. This is key for me since my wife will also be driving this car.

Drone: There is no drone while driving on the highway at all. Once you get past 50 MPH in 4th, 5th or 6th gear, you won't even think you have an exhaust installed. However, if you keep the RPMs in the 1600-1800 RPM range there will be a slight drone that you notice. This happes if you upshift the car too early; ie. 35-40 MPH in 6th gear. I am not too worried about this as this is easily controllable by shifting down in that scenerio.

Summary: All in all, i am completely satisfied with my purchase and my choice of installation. If any of you guys need any install work done for your Audi, shoot a PM to AudiA4_20T and he should be able to help you.

i think this is the difference though between milltek and FI.
FI you do get drone. you can't say no drone except.....so with FI you will get drone.
with milltek there is no drone...not at any RPM. never heard any. I can only speak to the RES CB Milltek exhaust though. dunno about non-res.

My AWE Non-Res has a bit of drone in that rpm range as well...its a bit unfortunate but other than that it's great (and I got it at a great price too, so I couldn't pass it up).

Nice if there is no drone. Nothing is more annoying than exhaust drone, after a while you just want to slit your wrists to make it stop. Well maybe not that extreme.... How about pics and a vid?

Catback is not that raspy in person. My stock exhaust was raspier than Sebring.
This catback HAS drone. Although in a very small RPM range but it's there and it's very noticeable.

Eric, you should just go with a resonated Milltek. There is absolutely no drone with this system.

like i said...i can only speak about the RES CB exhaust....dunno about no res...i can imagine there would be.

drone would have been my brothers jetta (zona's old jetta) with borla on it...that was enough to shake the interior apart. my milltek res back systems have never had drone...end of story.

i can't stand drone and will not tolerate it on a nicer car. to each their own...if its got drone...its not for me. not saying its bad exhaust...i just don't like drone in my car...its annoying. i hate noisy tires...so i'm not going to like drone either. i actually dig the corsa exhaust...dunno about drone but i like it. wish they had a b6 s4 version.

That is exactly how mine sounds. The 8" resonated exhaust adds a really nice deep growl and there is no rasp what so ever.

The problem with the resonated Miltek is that you hardly hear your exhaust. Why spend ALL that money for a ride that sounds like stock...but that's just my opinion.

If you go FI, go with the xpipe w/ the 8" resonators.

I'm thinking Milltek after everything I've been reading. I have the APR setup on my TT and while I love the exhaust note, the car does drone at highway speeds.

I've been thinking of getting some dynamat to try to quiet it down, but am not keen on adding something to my car that cannot easily be removed without leaving a lot of residue where it was.

First one is under full load and second is just a guy revving in neutral. It will sound different. Besides looks like audio/video quality between the two is different so you can't judge by those.
And why give a guy thumbs down? You don't like it, fine but don't give him shit about it.
