    Weak A/C in hot weather?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Does anyone notice that the A/C in our cars take a long time to cool when its 90F or above. My old BMW 328IS cools in a matter of minutes while i notice my B7 2.0T takes 15 minutes or so to finally reach ideal temperature. I'm not sure if its normal or just my car.

BTW. A/C was set to auto not economy.

    Thanks

Recirculating helps a lot. I think the BMW automatically does this.

I thought the same but I have an Avant. My A/C has to cool the hatch area too, haha.

Re: Weak A/C in hot weather?

Try the recirc button. I've noticed that helps in hot weather in ALL cars. My B7's A/C does suck when it's not in recirc mode in the dead of summer.

living in texas it gets real hot. sometimes i think it works ok, sometimes i swear it will never be cool even with recirc on. the auto sure does love to turn the fan up as high as possible though...

Re: Weak A/C in hot weather?

We had 4 days of 100+ temps here in June and with the recirc, and ac on full blast it barley felt like it was working. In lower temps like 70-80 it always feels too cold.

Re: Weak A/C in hot weather?

Anything over 85 degrees and my AC sucks ass. Worst AC of any car I've ever owned. Its been this way since day one and the dealer says everythings normal. My '95 Land Rover with 200K miles on it blows out blizzards and its never been serviced (knock on wood).

Mine works OK, but I expected more.

Also Issue #6 in "Common B7 A4 Problems/Issues & Solutions" thread might be the cause in your case.

Re: Weak A/C in hot weather?

I'll try the recirculating feature but its just kind of disappointing a simple little thing like A/C should be better in a 35k entry level luxury vehicle. It almost reminds me of my old Honda civic which takes forever to cool.

I live in Miami and my car used to be a lot hotter before I got my tint but when my car is baking in the sun all day I just open the windows for a minute or two and drive like that and then close them and jack the AC up I have no problems with mine.

Re: Weak A/C in hot weather?

mind is fine. I think at the beginning use recirculating. It will help. also open little bit or sunroof when you leave. It will help alot.

Hell within the last 9 months I've had the dealer re-charge the "freon" 3 times!! Last time being over a week ago.. so far so good..They could not find any leaks VAGing it or when filling the systemwith blue dye...all 3 times nothing!Bugs me that they cant find the source of the problem
