B6 with 30/35 % tint? Post up!!

Hey guys! I'm looking to do a tint job in the near future here, and keep going back and forth b/w 35 (safe) and 30 (max legal).

Do you have something in that range?! Post your picture and let me know what percentage you have and the type of tint!! Thanks to all in advance!

If you are going to a reputable shop and they are putting the max on, they should back you up if you were to get a ticket. I went with the max and they told me that if I ever got a ticket they would provide proof that it was the legal limit.

yep my shop offered a legal certificate if i stayed within the legal limits, otherwise it was cash only and no certificate. They will even retint a window for free if someone breaks a window or anything.

Here's an old picture, but shows my tint. It's 28% film all the way around, but adds up to about 25% with the small amount of tint that comes on the windows stock (as proven by the Ohio State Highway Patrol's light meter).

The tint was installed in June 2005. These pics were taken in October 2007. No fade that I can see.

Metallic tint and radio reception issue is blown out of proportion imo. Only AM reception is affected to a small degree. FM reception doesn't change. I ran metallic tint for several years on my previous car. No radio reception issues. Note that metallic tint does fade a tiny bit over time.

Thanks! It's just a charcoal grey tint. I think they called it "Char-cool" if I remember right, there is no metallic/metal in it.

If you don't mind my asking, what'd you pay for your tint? I was just quoted $349 for sides/back in the Formula One ceramic, with lifetime warranty. Any complaints? Would you get it again?

Thinking about getting it done this week, mine is black on black too, and it's starting to warm up around here.

Btw if a cop gives you a ticket for 2 dark of tint( besides seeing its pitch black) and only give you a ticket based on eye sight I would laugh in their face. You need a Tint reader to give a proper ticket im pretty sure.

^ no they dont. Theres only one cop in my area that has a tint meter, and I have know of other cops giving out tickets before which was not that person around here. Some cops are equipped with Meters, and I have seen them give people tickets.

I paid $325 cash I believe (this was back in 2005). No real complaints. I'd probably get it again (or may be I'd go with Huper Optik next time), just from another place as I didn't like the way I was treated and the install quality is very average at best. The film is perfectly fine tho.

Nah, but ceramic tint is more expensive. I could've done metal for $250 or so.

I'd stick with 15 all around.. the two toned tint looks strange IMO

Just go with 5% all around. That's what i did. The legal limit here in washington is 35% also but i've been pulled over 4 times since i got my tint, all for stupid shit like my license plate light was out at 2 am, and i haven't got a single question or anything about my tint. I even have 10,000k HID's on as well... nothin. I found that if you just roll your window down the second you stop your car the cop doesn't say anything because they have no reason to worry. Tint laws are all about officer safety, they're worried about not being able to see weapons inside the car when they pull you over. Besides tint is a secondary offense so they have to write you up for something else to give you a ticket for your tint. So i'd just go for as dark as possible, it looks way better.

35%, I would have liked 20% all around but honestly it is not worth the hassle, I have been pulled over and my tint passed. In my old Jeep I had 20% all around and not only was it too dark at night out the back, but I also failed inspection which was a PIA. Anyway here are a few pictures...
