My audi wouldnt start this morning. At first it turned over fine but after 4-5 ....

tries i could tell the battery wasn't doing its job, then it just stopped. what else could be the problem. the battery is 3 years old and i do have a sub in the back which could have drained it sooner then its time. What i really want to know, is this a symptom of bad battery or could be something else? thanks.


I will try to jump it when i get home from work hopefully it will start i just don't want it to be a bigger problem like maybe a fuel pump. how would i check that?

you can get batteries tested at autozone for free, or if you have multi meter you can check the voltage of the battery when the car is turned off if it reads below 12 volts its typically a bad battery. you might register 11ish and that should be ok for a while, but is on its way out.

the battery died on me the other day but its becuase i left the music on with the sub like an idiot. but i am hoping that is just it. cause it turned over a while today but im hoping it just didnt have enough juice. hopefully its not something bad i havent had any other symptons of error on the car. but my uncles jetta had this happen once and it was the fuel pump so im hoping it not. would it be very difficult to replace it? thanks

you can get batteries tested at autozone for free,

2nd... try to get a jump start and go to "the zone" and get your battery and alternator tested. normally, your car should crank up using power from the battery, but it pulls soooo much amperage to start. so, maybe try running a 1 farad capacitor to your amp. it'll take some of that load off the battery and your alternator. and don't run the sub too hard/long while the engine is off.

i wasnt even running them, the car was just on the on position. then my v1 made this weird ass sound like a sequaida(wrong spelling sorry) and i was like shit. my friend came and jumped me but i just hope the audi is ok after the battery or whatever.

thanks though i will look into a capacitator if that was the only problem.

well, if your car is on, your sub should be on unless you have a seperate switch to turn it on. The capacitor should be like $100 or someting and should be really easy to install. definitely have your alternator checked when you get the battery checked because it's a relatively common problem with these cars.

If it's your first time pulling the bumper off and the radiator housing off, then I would say about 4hrs to change the alternator (give or take). Some people can change it without pulling the bumper off, but never could and i had to change my tip's 3 times. I'm a pro at it now... can do it in 2.5 hrs or less. It will come in handy if/when my 6-speed's gives out.

lol ive tried to get my fing bumper off. i could only get it of the clips on the drivers side. passanger side was such a pain i just put it back on. i was just trying to get it off for fun.
i did have the timimng belt done so it can come off. im just really bad at it.

to remove the fron bumper, you should remove the healights and undercarraige cover, then pull those 2 screws located behind the foglight housing. then you have to almost squeeze the buper from top to bottom at its ends and pull straight back. it's far bettr described by the guys at IPP on there website with pics and stuff. PS... have your battery and alternator tested first before jumping to conclusions.
