    Something Wicked This Way Comes

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Well it came last night
Got my PSS9 coilovers and Fast Intentions catback exhaust.
I do have couple of questions about the install for both. As far as I can tell exhaust should be a piece of cake since it's a direct bolt off - bolt on kind of deal and I will be putting it on tonight. Are there any gaskets that need to be replaced? Are there any at all? If it's all metal on metal, does anyone use anti-seize compound?

For coilovers, every other install I've replaced front strut mounts so I'm going to do it on these as well. Where do you guys get them? I've seen them someplace but can't remember where.

Re: Something Wicked This Way Comes

I'm getting Vogtlands installed today and the guy just called and said the kit did NOT come with new strut mounts. He is calling them directly to confirm if he will need them. Are you saying new strut mounts are necessary? I am going to be pissed if that's the case.

You should be able to reuse the OEM strut mounts.

Good to see someone here knows their metal \m/
I was going to say something about avatar/profile in another thread - good choice of music!

Anyway, I know I could reuse the mounts but since I know nothing about Audi's (I've only done it on GTI's) I was wondering how safe that would be. My car is at 44xxx miles. I found some on MJMAutohaus for a very decent price so I will pick those up anyway. It won't hurt.

The finish on many of the Milltek and APR exhaust I have seen looks dull after only a short time. A guy on AW just dropped big bucks on a Milltek RS4 system about a month ago; this week he posted pics of how it has ALREADY dulled to the point he had to re-finish it. UNACCEPTABLE. IMO, there is no comparison between those systems and the Sebring mufflers/tips. The Sebring looks much nicer and retains a high polish for as long you are willing to maintain it.

Not sure if anyone here used Nevr-Dull for stainless steel polishing but that stuff amazing. Kept my stainless steel wheels lips shiny for a long time.

Re: Something Wicked This Way Comes

I'll have before and after pics/videos. Exhaust should go on Saturday. Jack I have could not lift the car high enough for me to work under it comfortably so I'll use buddy's floor lift. I hope the tips sit straight because I've noticed that piping, when sitting on the flat surface don't sit flush to the ground.

Re: Something Wicked This Way Comes

Finally got the exhaust on today. Install was easy but adjusting took few minutes. Not satisfied with the height as it's lower than I'd like to be but without bending rear hangers I don't think it's going be perfect.
All I'm going to say is I wish I saved my $1100 and bought something else instead. Exhaust sounds pretty decent but it's not loud enough nor does the tone change that much to justify a purchase.
It did sound REALLY good when the exhaust was off though. Cell phone video of that will be posted soon. I'm really tempted to put straight pipes on.

I'm not going to bother to take better video of before and after than this because the results are not that great to put any effort in turning the decent camera on. These are from a point and shoot camera in video mode + youtube = crap.

With a little seasoning it will sound better. Give it time to break in a bit. Had mine for three months now and it definitely sounds better now than it did on Day 1.

Damn I wish the sound was better but no one there had a proper video camera. It was shot on a cellphone so both video and audio are crap but it's funny because the revving sounds like a Cougar (the animal)
