Ok what am I missing here? Please tell me this isn't going into the B8 S4. 290 HP and 309 TQ. WTF??? I've read that this same motor was supposed to have about 350HP. There is no mention of what they'll put this one into so maybe there's hope for the S4 still?

If these are the true numbers, I'm definitely staying with my B6. More HP, same TQ pretty much and it sounds better than a 3.0L V-6 ever will.

Booost FTW - S/C FTL. I have had my share of Supercharged vehicles. And all the while I will always choose turbo over S/c. They are hot, noisy and on a V6 is will sound somewhat crappy IMO (V8 s/c is much better) but they are easy to maintain and rarely ever fail. Good move for Audi, bad move for us.

where is that confirmed in that article. i know we've read other things...articles posting speculations is what it sounds like. this was the original rated figures. which sucks. i hope your right and we see a 350HP S4 instead of a 290HP S4.

I'm actually looking forward to this change. It looks like a great engine setup with some nice technology. And from what I understand thats the A6's engine numbers, the S numbers will definitly be higher. This engine will definitly have much more modding potential than our 4.2s do which is another plus, along with gas savings.... just my 2 cents.

gas savings until we mod the shit of out it. which is what i would do, to make up for the lack of being able to due mods to my current one.

but i believe i will go for a B7 RS4 V8 as the next car.

LOL yes i agree on the RS4, my next car choice as well(dolphin grey titanium pkg.). BUT even after modding, I still think the SC fsi 3.0 will have better gas mileage than our 4.2's have........ but we wont kinow until they come out so thats enough speculation on my part.

I swear there was an article on Edmunds Inside Line two days ago that gave information about the new S4 engine. I have looked and I cannot find that article, have they pulled it for some reason? I recall it said the s/c v6 will be in the 330-350hp range. The 290hp is the de-tuned version for the A6. i mean the a6 is a tank and 300 hp is just nothing for that car. I mean the current A6 weighs 4250 and has 255 hp. Bmw 535 has 300hp and wieghs 3700. even the 528 weighs 3571 and has 230 hp. I mean audi is building tanks with no power

Along this line of discussion...I'm cool with the 300hp, but the car better be lighter! They got the right idea with the new TT; actually lighter than the previous generation thanks to the use of aluminum.
