The stealer quoted me $850 for the service....what is really needed at this mileage?
    Thanks!

Re: 55k mile service....what is necessary?

I got my car as a CPO with 56,000 on the clock. So the dealer had to do the 55K service. According to the CPO paper work this is what was done for over $1300 in parts and labor:

    Oil Service
    Changed Spark Plugs
    Changed Air Filter
    Changed Cabin Filter

Even though $850 may sound like a bargain compared to what my CPO work order says, you can easily do all those things for under $300!

It should be possible. The previous owner did the 45K at 38K or something, and the 55K before they returned it from lease (at about 44K), so all my maintenance timing is screwed.

Is that easy to do? Is there a tut or writeup somewhere to teach you how to do this?

Easy enough but the clips are frustrating. Have some zip ties handy just in case.

Search here and AW for the fuel filter DIY if it's not on a4mods.com

What would we do without a4mods.com??? Suffer, that's what.

Fuel filter will take you 15-20 minutes to change. The trick is just with the fuel line clips.

I just did the 55k last week. Stealership charged me $360. Indy was going to charge me $280.
I don't know where your dealer came up with that price.

Dude, that's the Air Filter, not the fuel filter.

Re: 55k mile service....what is necessary?

Since this is a "major" service, most dealerships will offer you a rental. But then again, each dealership is owned and operated independently, so call the service department and check. This is one thing I miss about Infiniti and BMW, they are a lot more consistent about what their dealerships do when it comes to service.
