    Re: iPhone armrest cradle

I have seen in the German forum motor.talk.de, that they can buy the cradle for 110 EUR at the Audi dealer.

It should be possible to order the cradle in at the dealer in US as well - I think it is about the will to it that is missing - the logistic should be there.

Next month when the new 3G S iPhone get available, I will buy the cradle in Germany.

    Question Re: iPhone armrest cradle

Bump as well, I want to buy one of these too.

Do we have anybody who actually has one of these, an iPhone 3G S, RNS-E, Bluetooth, and has verified it will charge and work? ('08 A3)

I have everything but the cradle, funny (sad) that it will cost more than the iPhone itself.... :-)

Calling oemplus tomorrow for info and ordering...

    Re: iPhone armrest cradle

I ordered one yesterday...even though there seems to be a newer part number. It will be about 4 weeks till I get it.

I ordered from oemplus a 8P0051435GP there is also listed on .de Audi sites a 8P0051435HC (same numbers but HC instead of the GP suffix) but the oemplus people say it is not in EKTA and not to worry.

    Hibernating for 4 weeks...

I am pretty sure all you have to have is the plastic plate with contacts inside the armrest....this means that you have the bluetooth preparation option. I can't be sure since I have an '08 and I know this is the case for my model year.

The $200 thing I bought snaps onto that plate.

Bluetooth prep is all you need.

To the OP, yes they will charge the phone and use the vehicle antenna to boost your signal...

    Re-re-re-hibernating....received this today:

"the 3G/3GS iPhone cradles will not be shipping for another
5 - 6 weeks. Their was a quality control problem and the cradles will not
be shipping out this week as anticipated."

I have no comment that won't get me into trouble. Good thing my A3 has been in Audi DSG jail for the past 5 weeks. I get it back tomorrow, I am hopeful I can count on this cradle as a Christmas gift. We'll see.

You might check this, I am looking to get one too for 3G and I think oempl is selling you the wrong one.

Thanks neverfollow, I too noticed this way back in July and talked with oem about this as they assured me the GP version would work. Time passed and the HC version showed up on their site. I had to pay more to change my order to the HC part. This reset my waiting time. So currently they have had my money since July and the latest notification is mid-November.

    Re: iPhone armrest cradle

I had a VW Touareg that I traded in just few weeks ago, I intended to keep it first but few months later decided that I will buy nothing else except audi, I still have my A4 B5. Anyway I ordered the roof spoiler and euro license plate holder from OEMPL and it took them a month/month and a half to get it to me even though they said they get two shipments from Germany a month. When I got it the spoiler was cracked and license plate holder broken, I called them and email them the pictures and they said they will get in touch with me and they never did, I had to call them every other week or so and finally after three months they shipped a new spoiler and a license plate holder, again the spoiler was chipped and license plate cracked, I contacted them immediately and they said they will get in touch with me, several days later Richard (I think the owner) emailed me and told me that there is nothing that he can do and advised me to deal with UPS which is total BS. Anyway to cut my long story short I like the products that oempl has but it takes forever to get them and then the customer servise is terrible and I would definetly not recommend oempl to anyone. I am getting in touch with some friends from EU that can get me pretty much any part that I want so now I have a direct connection. Goodluck with your order.

I have the Apple IPhone cradle/sled part # 8P0051435GP that is up for sale if anyone is interested. It worked fine for me with the IPhone 3G-S. I was using it in a 08 TT but recently switched to an 009 TTS

    Re: iPhone armrest cradle

Hibernation has ended! Almost exactly SIX MONTHS later I have this thing in my hands!

I just tested it in my A3 and it seems to work fine, full bars for signal strength in my short drive. I think I used to see the strength bars vary between 3-5. I will do some real testing in the following week and report back.

Charging is working as evidenced by the change from the "plug" to the "lightning bolt". The little icon on the cradle lights up red and if you hit it it goes to voice command mode. Not sure why you would do this from within the armrest as the MFSW has a button for this as well (different car models?)

The other issue that I have had sporadically is the dropping of the bluetooth after it initially connects. Oddly, in the last several months this has happened less often and now it almost never happens. Again, not sure if the cradle will affect this...
