BIG PROBLEM! I got rear-ended and my car's totaled.....

hey so i got rear ended last week and aparently now the body shop is saying that my car's totaled cause the repairs are more than the car's worth...I was talking to my insurance guy and he's going to take into account all the aftermarket stuff, but i need part numbers and invoice stuff for each part.

Question is: for a lof of stuff i dont have the receipts, im concerned he wont give me the money on top of what the car's worth if i dont have the receipts.

btw i have a 2002 a4 silv/black 3.0 6 speed. and it had s4 rear, ultrasport front and some other stuff...

So, for one, i bought led tails, the ones with the black trim on these classifieds a few months ago and paid $220.00, what store online are these sold at? Also, i was just wondering if anyone had any reccomendations on how i should go about representing to the insurance all of the money i've spent on this car. (full magnaflow exhaust that i dont have the receipt for, painted side skirts, and blades, painted and installed front usp, tinting, and front s4 grille.

ANY suggestions would be awesome! im really hurting right now i just lost my baby and it wasnt even my fault! Ahh,

I'd part out with whatever that still works and is aftermarket, and start looking for your next ride. You could probably get a very nice USP for that much, but not so sure about an S4... not sure if you'd want one anyway, especially with gas prices.

04-05 S4's seems to be $24+K range. Cheapest I've seen is $22, but I didn't look for that long.

Typical Insurance....

If your car is 5+ years old, they will add up the numbers, and total it.

One way around this, is source your own parts. Typically, they will quote your dealership
prices on parts, which are over inflated.

Find your own bodyshop.

Most body shops charge more for "insurance" repairs....

The Insurance will "pro-rate" your aftermarket/new parts...

Depending on which state you live in and the laws, you maybe powerless in dealing with the insurance haggle...

FWIW, i have added insurance on 2 of my cars. its about an extra $100/car or so a year. for up to about 5k in adders/car. as long as I have pictures of what I added, thats what they want to see. Maybe for the next car, you ask yur ins. company about mods, and how much to put additional coverage on the car.

why should an ins. company cover something like 10K in mods, on a 5K car, even if you have the receipts. you are only paying a premium on a car thats worth 5K. (this is just an example)

yeah my audi just went up in rate (whatever reason) it is now $11 per 6 months less than my 335i :(

Time to shop insurance companies again. guess after they get too old they become more of a liability than not?

if you don't have receipts, go online and find the part numbers and supply them a list, an estimate of what you paid, and pictures of the parts on your car. if you have no receipts, or pictures of certain parts, you may end up eating the cost if the insurance company does not deem your 'word' adequate proof.

my insurance co told me as long as i had receipts they would cover any aftermarket part put on my car... find your paypal transaction or credit card history where you paid for it!

Also, whatever is left, try trading in. If you have RNS-E, try selling and put in symphony. C/F trim? I got the same car, but different color (also LED tails) I will ask my bro where he bought it from (it was my bday gift). Also how you got black trim around windows? Mine is silver.
