Recall Letter

Hey did any of you guys recieve a recall letter for the 01-04 A6 and the01-05 Allroads for the fuel tank rollover valve? They say the aging of the plastic material in the fuel tank rollover valve, combine with bending stress from the aluminum ventilation line to the rollover valve nipple, may lead to cracking of the nipple. If this happens, a fuel leak may result. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could lead to a vehicle fire.

Audi says that they will repair this free of charge - they will reinforce the nipple on the rollover valve.

I'm going to call and make an appointment, they say that this will take several hours, we all know what that means, and that the vehicle should have approximately 1/4 tank or less on the day of the appointment, if possible.

Made my appointment this afternoon. 2 hours for the install. 6 hours for the parts to dry/cure.

The last time my Avant was in @ the dealer - I mentioned the gas tank recall to my SA. He ran my VIN, and he stated that no open recall was applicable to my VIN.

Can you just call the dealer and ask them to run your VIN to see if your eligible for the recall? I bought my car private party and the dealer would not have my info.

If you aren't on file with AoA with your car's VIN, they won't know to mail you a letter. It's a good idea to make sure that you're registered with AoA for each car you own.

Well i called, and they said they can take me in on the 11th, and give me a loaner car for a day or 2, while they fix the gas tank, and take a look at the control arms and what not. cant wait to drive around some slow ass A4 or A3!!! :(

I called my local Audi dealership in NJ, and they said they will not give loaner cars for recall work. That's ridiculous. Has anyone else been told by the dealer that thet can't give a loaner car for the repair?

Call 1-800-822-2834 (AUDI), Mon-Fri, 8 am to 8 pm, Eastern Time.

Tell them that you own an Audi and you want to register the VIN under your name so that Audi can contact you when there are recalls and service bulletins.

I guess I should be a little worried as I have an appointment tomorrow at Bell Audi in Rahway and they are telling me it would take only an hour and that I can wait for it. I think I am going to pass and call AofA and find out for sure unless someone here knows better. Thanks.

Received my letter over the weekend, it says that we have 60 days to get the recall work completed. Atleast some of ya'll will get Audi loaners, my Audi dealership has a deal with Enterprise and they give their cars as loaners...guess I'll be getting a Ford Fusion or some shit

I dropped off my car today for the recall, and left with a nissan sentra, damn I miss my baby. This is my first audi and my first turbo car and I don't think that I can own anything else. They say it should be ready by tomorrow but that seems so far away. Sorry if I sound like a little B*%#h.

Recall work completed on my avant today. The dealer was out of A3 loaners - got a Caddy DTS instead. The work was completed within 6 hours, and included a free car wash.

I took it to Anchor Audi in LI, just off of Sunrise Hwy. I'm close to the S. Conduit so it not that for from me.

Thats funny because Anchor was recommended to me I was going to take it Bell Audi in NJ which is near my office but once they told me that it would take an hour I was suspicious and cancelled. Did you have a problem getting a loaner?

Unfortunately no but they do give you a rental from enterprise. They say that the recall covers a one day rental. The only thing I paid for was the insurance for the rental which was $25 dollars.
