Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey all.
Want to do a coolant flush on my B5 S4. Couldn't find any DIY's with pics on other threads, so if anyone has any, I would appreciate it.

    Thanks.

You have three kind of coolant. oat, ioat and hoat. S4 comes with organic (oat) coolant which is red or orange. Don't put inorganic (iat) in your engine b/c it is not realiable coolant. The color of that coolant is green or blue. i'm gona put hybrid in mine (hoat). Hybrid is not as hard as oat on rubber and gaskets, and is almost as good. BTW, you can mix hoat in both kind of coolant. Hybrid color is usually clear.

I just did mine today via the bentley manual. That was harder than expected...had fluid explode all over me when I took off the clasp to the coolant temp sensor thingy (where radiator leads to engine).

BTW, its hard to take pictures when what you have to pull is literally all up in the frontend of the engine.

How necessary is this? I've got 145k miles, and I sit in traffic often when the needle rises just a bit after halfway...would this help?

Not sure how helpful it is.

I haven't really noticed much of a change in my engine temperature, although there is a slight notice in my oil temp. It now goes up to ~200-~225 a little slower than it use to.

How necessary is it to change the oil..?? Coolant flushes are always a good idea and should be done every 70k at least imo.

    Cheers
