Question about Shark Fin Antenna...

Quick question...

I recently upgraded to a Pioneer Avic F900BT... I relocated the GPS antenna to where the Shark Fin Antenna is... I felt lazy that day and decided to cut the connection between the two modules that were inside the shark fin... my question is, since I was not thinking, are any of those modules inside the shark fin for the radio antenna? If so which one? There are 2, one is squared, and the other has a shape to where it actually has fin looking thing that is shaped liek the shark fin... I remember seeing a post on ehre and been searching forever for it, he showed which one was which, but can't locate it anymjore... my pioneer gps is working fine, and i am getting some reception with radio, but i am thinking that one of the modules inside the shark fin was for the radio... any help is greatly appreciated...

don't have XM on mine... i think i did with the symphony, but i am not sure... do you have aftermarket xm satelite? i would just run it and put it in the shark fin... well, that's what i would do... lol... and that is what i did form my gps antenna...

The sharkfin houses both the GPS antenna and the Sat. Radio antenna. Why didn't you just use the sharkfin??

I have no clue how to hook up an aftermarket XM (such as the pioneer unit) receiver to the sharkfin, i havent been able to find any concrete info on it short of "the wires are under the headliner on the passenger side".

which wires do i connect? I take it i need to cut the stock antenna cable from the pioneer unit right?

Just because you have the sharkfin and not an RNS-E doesn't mean the GPS antenna isn't there. My car didn't come with an RNS-E and my sharkfin still had the GPS antenna and harness coming from it.

You have to buy an extension cable. You can get them from Kufatec. Here is where the harnesses from the sharkfin are located:

Yes, the standard RF antenna is not included in the sharkfin. I believe it's embedded in the rear window

i used the gps antenna from the f series and gutted out whatever was inside the shark fin... put the pioneer gps antenna in the shark fin and rerouted in th epillars to the f series...

Dude we have been over this with you once before when you first came to this forum, your sharkfin antenna is not real, they were post '04. Your antenna is an ebay knockoff stick on. Go and check ebay.
