So I just got a nice late birthday/graduation check in the mail this morning and well, I'm looking for a good BT set up. I have 5 grand to spend and I want to get a quality BT. I was just about to go with the k04 setup tomorrow, but now that I got this check, I can go BT. I know some of you BAT dudes know whats up. post some thoughts.

30r is BAT, he said BT.

Best setup for the money is a GTRS/71 Elim kit.

maybe save it? i take it you just graduated highschool, so whether you're heading to college or the real world $5k will be a nice cushion of cash to have.

    just a thought.

Re: I need a good setup...

what supporting mods do you have? what tranny?

im looking at piecing together a gt28rs kit this is what ive figured: (hoping for around 300awhp)

i decided not to get the APR kit because its resale value is terrible.. ive seen two people have trouble selling them for anywhere near what they paid for them because APR is sooo proud of their damn software!

    sooo:

    ATP Mani ~ $300
    gt28rs ~ $1000 (online)
    Mchammered's metal TIP $350 i think?
    Test pipe ~ $200
    Genesis 550cc injectors/adaptors $385 and $85
    Misc gaskets, nuts bolts $100
    REVO BT flash $700
    Select Plus $300

oh oil and coolant lines, using AN fittings ~$400 sound right?

    am i missing anything?

thats about $3650 roughly.. i know i need a new rear 02 sensor, my drivers side engine mount is broken and ill probably put a new front 02 sensor as well since they have 85k on them...

and i was wanting to get a turbo blanket and possibly ceramic coat the mani if those two things will help it spool quicker... suggestions?

Re: I need a good setup...

^^^ there you go, that is a good list and good set up that doesn't require new internals, but since you have extra loot you could go with new rods provided you already have a high flow exhaust, DV, and FMIC or dual SMIC. If you don't your looking at around 1G for exhaust, 1G for FMIC, you can pick up a DV in the Classifieds

^^ Let's assume he has the exhaust, DV and FMIC. After getting new rods, what turbo can he safely go for? Just for my FYI...

I still wouldn't go above a 28rs, anything larger is going to have major lag in 1st gear on a tip car.

How about if he was a manual? A friend of ours has a manual 04 and has the exhaust, DV and soon getting an FMIC. However he doesn't know how big he can safely go if he got aftermarket rods. Unfortunately I don't know Audis well enough (YET) to know the answer.

Gimme a V8 and I can make her scream!! :). However give me a 1.8 and I'm like "uhhh" (LOL)

If he upgrades the rods there is no limit of what size turbo he can go.

A good setup is to immediately put 1/2 of that $ away.

12/23/09 - My car has been phenomenal to me. Runs strong. Don't think I'm ever going to sell it. Rather throw $7k into it for a refresh than buy a new A4 that has no dipstick.
    12/5/10 - 100k miles & counting!
    9/22/13 - 146k+ & running strong w/a new TB, water pump, etc.
