The Complete Dynographic History of my car

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have had a few requests for my dyno numbers recently so I decided to share them with you.

All dyno's have been done on the same 2 dyno's Dyno dynamics & mainline both give similar hp numbers.

What I want you to take from these graphs is the overall change in WHP not the peak WHP readings (obviously because I put down less power to the wheels than a chipped A4)

The first dyno is a baseline dyno on dynodynamics that I found. It is not from my car but it fits my story i would say it is on the low side but you get the idea.

This is my car with only APR 93 program

    So about a 30WHP increase.

Next I had the APR KO4 kit & testpipe installed no other bolt ons just the 93 program

    Another 21WHP gained

This dyno shows torque (as you can see HP numbers are very similar)

Added the APR Fuel pump - not really designed to improve peak power from what I've been told.

disregarding the one 'freak' run of 205WHP, I gained about 3WHP from the pump.

Finally I added an AWE exhaust and Carbonio Intake

    picked up an extra 8WHP

In total a 62WHP increase over stock.

Hope this gives you guys an idea about the real kinds of gains achieved by adding these different mods to your cars.

Thanks for posting your dyno results. Great addition to the B7 2.0T knowledge base.

I was expecting a little more from the fuel pump (5-10hp) but if it gives consistent gains across the rev range then its doing a good job.

Do you know what a stock car runs on the dyno you've been testing? Pulling a base run from another dyno on a day you don't know anything about doesn't really give you a base run. I've seen k04 on dynojet run 260/300, yea DD are very low reading but pulling random graphs means nothing.

I had a before and after dyno of the fuel pump that didn't really show any major differences in area under the curve. However I also had a faulty N75 valve during this time so I may need to take it back to get another post pump run done.

Despite what the dyno's show I did feel a difference in torque around 3000rpm up to red line. When I accelerate it feels like the car gets a second wind over 4500rpm too whereas before i would change up a gear and use the torque between 3000-4500. It accelerates to redline and it feels strong.

no unfortunately I don't this is why I included the other dyno as it is also dyno dynamics, but you are right this is a very rough guide only as you can't really translate data from diff. dyno's.

Found this dynograph from a year ago, I don't remember if the run was done with APR program or stock. Number looks low so maybe stock? Does this sound right? My car is a tip.

Looks about right for a stock 2.0T on dyno dynamics. The 145.5 WHP is about 109.9KW at the wheels.

I thought mine seemed low and a manual should at least have over 150whp, but obviously not the case with Dyno dynamic dynos they do have lower numbers.

Made 135kw on the same dyno dynamics dyno this afternoon. If Audi's engine hp claim is accurate, the car now makes 260hp at the engine.

That sounds spot on. I dyno'd 130WKW on dyno dynamics chiped aswell. That just goes to show how differently the US dyno's read.

yep. However I'm happy with this upgrade. I mean if I had had the choice between stage 3 and KO4 I would definitely have chosen the stage 3 kit but I didn't.
The car is still very fast, and remember the same set up on one of the US Dyno's dyno'd at almost 300WHP so don't be disheartened by the 30 whp as on a US dyno that would be 60whp.

No I don't but I do have logs at each dyno run so I will have a look at them - but I don't know exactly what to look for.

I thought of something else.... A stage 3 Gti made 203 WKW on the same dyno I made 150WKW on.

    So:
    203WKW 15% drive train loss(FWD) = 239KW at the engine
    150 WKW 30% drive train loss(quattro) = 214KW at the engine

Obviously there is still more power to be had out of the new stage 3 kits but at the moment I'm not that far off.

Re: The Complete Dynographic History of my car

^ Well, I'm used to reading rpm:output plots, which makes sense in my world.

However, your dyno plots show a somewhat probably "realistically-practical" way of measurement by doing an "estimated speed":output plot. But I don't like doing conversions, too many variables involved. But a good tune would have a pretty linear torque "curve" that flattens out at its peak rpm and maybe slowly dips off as rpms rise. For kw/hp output a good tune would have very linear "curve" all the way up to the redline rpm. If you take a look at AWE's dyno plot for their BT upgrade (this is a recent thread) that is a excellent example of a good tune and power/torque output.

Well from the various charts you've posted, it definitely looks like your current engine tuning is definitely MUCH better than stock. Now that I've seen how our stock engine outputs...it's either pretty poor (imho) or it's reasonably gas efficient at high speeds

lol i remember this last year Inferno, all he would put up is his corrected dyno graphs not the true # it put down that day at the dyno. there was a long discussion about this and i remember mike (10sec b5 owner) came in and showed him how the correction factors were all wrong and inflating his numbers.

Im not trying to put anyone down but i dont want someone to drop the coin that this kit cost thinking they have a 300whp car.

I agree. This is why I posted my dyno's showing in actual fact the kit only makes about 210WHP. However I know that all the guy's that dyno with fully modded KO3's are getting 240 whp and will cliam they have more power than a fully modded KO4 this is why I posted the 274WHP SAE corrected dyno showing that A fully modded KO3 with SAE correction applied will achieve 240WHP vs a Fully modded KO4 with SAE correction applied achieves 274WHP. The actual numbers are much lower for both fully modded KO3 and fully modded KO4 & no dyno's can be compared.
Furthermore a Stage 3 kit will also be affected by SAE correction factors. To give you an example a stage 3 Gti dyno'd 270Whp on the same dyno same day.

The car definitely feels stronger, especially up top there is more power to the red line. I was told by APR there is no benefit in doing injectors as the car needs to be tuned for them.
