Re: alcantara steering wheels and more....

I emailed them about my MKII TT-S flat-bottom wheel and a few other bits. They quoted me $300 to wrap the wheel in alcantara and beef up the padding underneath if I want. A shift knob and ebrake handle would be $70 and $85, respectively, and the shift boot would be $70. While the wheel might be a good deal, depending on how you look at it, the other prices are pretty high, and based on the pics on their website, I would not be happy with the stitching, since I'm extremely adament about having the individual links of the french stitching matching. It is another option though.

PS: I know this is a necrobump, but it was worth posting the information for others.

Yep, you can find great deals on OEM stuff off Ebay, but these are custom pieces with whatever color leather or alcantara you want and whatever color stitching you want.

dallas steering wheel is definitely expensive. go to shiftstyle.com and get an alcantara shift boot for $40 instead of $70 through this company. $80 for an alcantara e-brake handle? jesus....

I understood that but just making a point that there is an OEM alternative.

If this outfit can make my leather wheel into an r32 style chunky wheel I'll send it in for the work.

Shiftstyle took one month to get me the first shift boot, which had fucked up stitching. The second boot took another 5 weeks, and it too has fucked up stitching. That company can go die in a fire. You pay for quality, and they definitely do not deliver.

Yeah, they say they can add padding and stuff. The work looks really good on the wheels.

WTF, I thought I was the only one!

I've been waiting for a shiftboot from them for nearly 1 month now. I just emailed them to say if they haven't started on my boot yet, to just cancel my order.

If I don't receive a response by Tuesday, I'm filing an paypal inquest against them to get my money back.

They are the worst company I've dealt with in years. I can't even imagine how difficult it will be to get that $10 back for posting it on a web forum.

In my experience, filing the paypal complaint will only make them actually send you the shift boot. The customer service and quality from Shiftstyle is horrendous. Horrible. Crap. I don't know how else to put it, but they suck. You can find shift boots on ebay.co.uk that are very nice and half the cost. See if they'll ship to the US.

ok i haven't ordered from shiftstyle.com, but keep in mind that it isn't a company that makes the boots by machine. it's probably done by hand, and thus if it takes a month to receive your custom made-to-order boot stop complaining. just be grateful there's a company out there doing this for cheap because they do have a ton of different options for you to select from. they should have better customer service and an adequate time frame listed on their website, but a month seems more than reasonable for a hand-made product.

Sorry, but "Hand-made" is no excuse for the delay. I have ordered two boots now from a guy here in the UK that does it all by hand, and they have gotten here in three days each, and they were made after I ordered them. We are talking about a simple shift boot here. They have pre-existing patterns, and all you do is decide the color of leather and/or alcantara and the type and color of stitching. I can see it taking no more than two hours to make one, at most. And even if it did take forever to make them, they still list their shipping time as 4-10 days to receive overseas, and I'm using a US P.O. Box, which is stateside. And when I email a company three times, and the only response I get is "Did you get it yet?" each time, that is horrible customer service. Add to that the fact that it took over a week to get a response in the first place. Maybe if I had gotten a nice product after two months I wouldn't be so pissed off, but with the crooked stitching and missed stitches, I might as well have thrown my $40 in the garbage.
