I just bought and placed IPP intercoolers...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I bought the suckers! and put them on last weekend!

ordered them on monday, payed monday night and had them monday after!

placement took about 2.5 hours, we did it on a bridge with 3 guys. took a little plastic away and made one hose shorter ,but damn these suckers are big , we had to undo the whole front, but only the screws and held it to the fron so I didn' have to pull the whole airco shit. bumper fitment was better then before, I noticed some screws were missing from my bumper hèhè

I feel noticable difference on my stage 2 car:

    - it pulls stronger in higher rpm's especially in 3th and 4th I feel diff from 6k to 7k

    - it pulls alot better during the day when it's very hot these days (25-30°/80-90 for you guys)!

    - it also pulls good every time now, with the stockers I pulled 1 good pull and then it was dead and sometimes the car didn't want to go in higher rpm after a few pulls and it held back...

I tested it against my buddies cars and it was faster, not alot but it is for a fact faster cause we race every weekend with the same bunch of cars and mine is deff faster

    - pulled on the 325bhp Z3M with eisenmann exhaust 50-200: 1.5 carlength and from a start almost the same cause I didn't quattro launch his ass just to see if I could really take him man to man

    - pulled the volvo C70 with 315bhp with 3 cars 50-220 (before it stayed in my side vieuw mirror

    - took 2 passengers with me who helped install the IC's and stayed 2 cars behind on the E46 M3 SMG with 2 person in car who runs 4.6 and 12.89 @ 110 from 50-220. before I could hold him for 1 run when it was cold outside from 50-160km/h and when I shifted to 4th he started walking me bad. some guys say he's chipped but he keeps telling he's bone stock, who knows, I know he's pretty damn fast cause he outruns every M that has come to us on friday night
next weekend I'll race the M man to man from 50-250km/h

all in all I'm happy, the IC's made my car faster, stronger and it breaths better now!

Re: I just bought and placed IPP intercoolers...

    the S4 ones

some say they suck, some say they are good, but someone on netherland forum had them for a while and he told me he really did feel a good diff and he logged his car and it didn't cut on boost when the intake temp went sky high cause with these ones the IAT stayed good.
I read about some guys here telling they were perfect and some say these are shitty!
I must say they are not shitty and I payed them 700 on my doorstep with shipping from canada so I'm very pleased with the results!

Re: I just bought and placed IPP intercoolers...

I've been contemplating a set of those for a while...

The S4 ones are supposed to be plug & play whereas the RS4 ones require an RS4 hose kit to mate them to the compressor outlet and bipipes of the S4/A6 2.7T.

I never see the RS4 ones though. The RS4 ones are supposed to be huge since they replace the OEM RS4 coolers.

    the S4 ones are HUGE!
I cannot believe there would fit bigger ones behind there , cause there are some things in the way, I held them beside the OEM ones and these were huge!

Completely different core, i wouldn't put the chinese core on.. The ipp rs4 ones are the largest coolers to date for are cars i believe.. I had a set of the s4 coolers and there actually really nice, this is the best cooler for the money I believe and for 650.00 you can spend another 300.00 and for less then a grand have coolers and a meth kit....

I believe the rs4 ones are larger, i gave him the idea last year to make them and really never followed up to see how well they did. I no he made a few, but don't no what happened after that.... Bigger isn't always better...

yeah, to much bumper hacking if they get to large, like the er smic. I have the s4 ipp and love them not hard to install like the rs4 smic.

Just quoting you since you said you had the IPP ICs. You mentioned that the IPP Rs4 coolers were the biggest to date, but how much smaller are the IPP s4 SMICs? I read someone's thread when they logged AWE coolers and IPP coolers and found that the IPP coolers didn't hold off as well as the AWE ones.

Trust me, I would go with IPP for their cost, but am just trying to get the facts straight so that I don't end up thinking that the S4 IPP coolers actually perform better than AWEs or ERs.

I never said the s4 ones will perform better, but for the price you can get meth and still be cheaper and they will 1000% perform better then any IC out there without meth

I have them as well. I like them a lot, and yes fitment was VERY tight. anything larger than these and you would have to do some serious cutting(not fun).

can't wait for cooler weather, I'm sure these are going to be amazing once we get rid of this 90 degree weather!

    indeed!

I have only tested mine in summer weather now, even at night it's very warm here , I think in the winter these ic's are the bom!
it could be that Awe's are a little better if you do 10 dyno runs after and after but I just needed an SMIC that would fit directly in and would have the S perform good for a few back to back runs @ friday night and not cst me a kidney... AWE were 1295 + 150 shipping for me, these were 725 shipped ! for the other cash I could by some other goodies...

I was a bit parranoid when I ordered them, but believe me you will not be dissapointed!

and Silva does have the RS4 ones, these are 795$ but you need apr hoses with those and they are freakin big! like I said these S4 ones are really really tight behind there, can't imagine fitting much bigger smic's

I might give these IPP S4 coolers a shot. Last question though. What do you guys do about shrouds, and is there a piping kit or any hoses that come with it?

Mail him: he is the manufacturer

and I burned the shoruds with a little gassburner (Don't know what you call the thing in US) and I made the wholes bigger so they would fit niceley in the corners and they had a bigger surface were they would cool!

No need for other hoses, stockers did fine , I just cut a little piece of of one cause it was a little tight.

Someone should try the IPP rs4 ones with Aprs hose kit. If there as big as some are making them, sounds like they will work pretty good for 795.

hèhè okay , I know a new word now

and nah, just feelings, I test the car against the same cars every weekend and this weekend was tha hottest, it was still 23° outside and the car performed better then it did in march when it was 0-5° outside against the same cars...

it has longer breath now and feels more responsive , it just doesn't lack on power after a few pulls and that was the thing that anoid me the most with the stockers!

What are the dimensions of the RS4 IPP core?

APR's hose kit is $250... IPP RS4's are $800, that's $1050 for the complete kit. That's getting pretty pricey because you can grab a set a set of ER's with pipes and hoses for $1100.

I've had good luck with mine even though the people that never tried them or owned them, dog them for whatever reason...they work great for a stage 2+...those little k03's blow some serious hot air when chipped...I'd like to see an off the shelf stage 3 with these on and how they'd perform...a bigger turbo blows cooler air when in the efficiency range of course, like 18-19 psi I would assume. The only way I'd sell mine is when I go GT as of now I'm happy with the way the IPP s4 ones perform, especially for the price

I will like to see IAT logs of stock ICs vs. the IPP ICs. IIRC, the knock on the IPP ICs in the unofficial comparison by the AW members was that they were not better than the stock S4-ICs. IMO, the fact that the installation requires little to no modifications to the car is the biggest selling point for me, had they been proven to be better than stock that is.

I can tell you for a fact that they are NOT the same as stock IC's performance wise...

that hairblower test was not a good comparison , the street is for me , I run my car strong every week and every week I was dissapointed on how fast it dies of in the higher rps , even in cold weather and I raced an M3 and could hold hit till 4th gear for 1 time, all the other races my car just ran out of breath and died off. now it doesn't it can keep going strong! for me that's a good enough reason to buy these IC's...
