    strange part

So I popped the hood tonight and saw a rubber flap looking thing behind the hood latch connected by two rubber prongs and infront of the tbb that was dangling. The bottom half of it was torn to shreds by either the fan or the timing belt and left little rubber bits everywhere. I didn't have much light but does anyone know what that piece is and should I be worried at all? Thanks

    Re: strange part

It's a cover for your hoodlatch assembly, the same thing happened to mine. The belt you are referring to is the serpentine/accessory belt not timing ;) as far as replacing it, I have had mine off since this happened. Without it your hood latch is just exposed to the elements a bit more! see if you can't cut off the bottom and get a decent fit with at least partial protection!

Same thing happened to mine, I removed the mangled rubber piece and so far things appear okay.

Nice to have all that rubber flaking gone...
