Could you please take a look

    Hi,

Could you please tell me if this is what's shown on your b7 S4 as well...

    1) Is the temperature a bit high on the left of this photo (the needle is in the middle between C & H)? Every car I have had, the needle tends to be more on the left...but this car always has it in the middle, which looks high to me.

    2) I hit the 'CHECK' button on the dash board and that 'yellow lightbulb thingy' above 'oil pressure' shows a 'red cross' on top... Does that mean oil pressure is abnormal?

Thank you in advance for any help you could provide...

p.s. Btw, my 'Check Engine' light is off now...weird...

    John

The temp guage on the S4 and the RS4 should read right smack dab in the middle.

All the lights that are currently lit (while the car is not running) in that pic should be lit to tell you that they are working. Once you start the motor everything should turn off. If something is still lit while the motor is running, then you have an issue.

Ed, thanks! So the needle is at where it should be then?

My 2nd question meant to be 'how come there's a red cross on the yellow light-bulb thingy'? Did your S4 show a cross, too when you hit CHECK button?

    Thanks...

When you hit the check button, it will light up every warning light on the dash. It does this so you can see when a warning light has gone out. That light bulb with the red x is one light. You will never see the lightbulb without the red X as it is a warning let you know when some sort of light ahs gone out. Look at the first few pages of your manual, it'll show you exactly what that light means. once you fnd out, post it up here as i don't know what it means either.

Got it! I just read the manual and that thingy is to tell there if there's a defective bulb... I got confused and thought that had to do with oil pressure...

    thank you!

yeah that lightbulb is not fun to see. because when you do get a lightbulb thats burnt out, such as a tail light in my case, it takes up the whole damn DIS untill you fix it. good motivation to get it fixed though.

Re: Could you please take a look

I have had the lightbulb with an X when a bulb goes out too. It usually comes on when the car starts and will stay on until the bulb is replaced as Mike S4 points out. However, each time this has happened, if you push the check button while the car is running, it should display what light is bad. I don't know if this is common or not, but on my car, this works two ways depending on what bulb it is. For example, when I put in LED license plate bulbs, almost everytime I start the car and the lights go on in auto mode, I get the bulb with the X, the loud tone (same one you get when the gas is low) and it then says, plate light. This will go off shortly after starting the car. If a stop light bulb has gone out though, I get the X and then have to push the check button to see what bulb it is.
