Need advice to clean my wheels from the gunk off the street

I am so pissed right now.
The f...ing a..holes in my city decided to "rejuvenate" the streets in my neighborhood.
So they laid this sticky stuff along with sand or something like that.
I drove as slow as I could but that stuff still clung to my wheels.
I have the hyper silver RS4s from VMR. It's stuck mainly between spokes and at the corners of the larger openings. And inside the wheels.
I tried powerwashing my wheels but a lot of the sand and the sticky stuff couldnt be removed. It's almost like tar or something - it wont go with soap
Does anyone know of a good product to use? - I dont want to ruin the wheels nor scratch them

    Appreciate your help in advance.

you can try bug & tar remover. it is safe for all paint so can't see why it wouldn't work on wheels. I use groits tire/wheel cleaner with a little scrubing thing and it does pretty good to get the brake dust and whatnot off.

i use dp wheel cleaner and wheel glaze. it usually does a nice job and helps keep brake dust off. not sure if it'll be strong enough for that nasty stuff you found, but good luck!

try a clay bar. Might be hard to get between the spokes though. It seems that a clay bar will work on anything, even the herps.

yah. definitly don't use it full strength or you'll run the risk of stripping the clear coat. I like to use P21s, but I don't know if it's strong enough to get tar and sap off

thanks for all the advice. The sad part is that three months ago - I had polished and waxed them. Most likely I'll have to do it again. It's just so hot these days in Texas. Can only do it in the evening since I dont wake up early in the weekends.

BTW: I am thinking to get the Mother's ball to polish and wax them after I remove the sticky stuff.

talk to your town/city hall and have them reimburse you for the problem to get it cleaned up professionally. If they did not warn you then they should cover it. people don't even think about trying this and for the minimal amount of complaints they may be nice to you
