Looking to pick up 04 Allroad for parents...advice?

Ok. I am currently test driving a 04 Allroad 2.7t fully loaded for my parents for the next few days and so far am VERY impressed (to the point I told them they could have my A4). But the vehicle as a whole is new to me so I would like to know what other Allroad drivers are experiencing with issues. It has 50,060 miles on it (i just drove 60m), so I know some service is coming up. The vehicle is Audi Pre-Owned certified from one of the best rated Audi dealerships in the state. So please give me the good, the bad, and the ugly on this car. Who knows...maybe I'll get 2. :) Thanks in advance.

The 2.7T is a great engine, and buying CPO should cover most issues that may crop up in the next 2 years. The timing belt service should be done at around 75-85 thousand miles and runs about $1000, not covered by the CPO warranty. If your folks enjoy driving fast, there are lots of mods readily available

I have already made a list for my dad to include tuning and exhaust, plus some tweaking of the air-ride to go lower :)

you are looking on the same good and bad as any other 2.7t, it can be good or you can blow turbos anytime, this engine likes to be taken care of.....i love mine, ARs can be very sexy, just search on the AZ and you will see other ARs, some are just sick looking cars ! Good luck! Your folks will love it 100%

Beyond the turbos, the allroad suspension is known to have some issues. As long as you have the CPO warranty, you should be in good shape. The airbags are very pricey to replace when paying out-of-pocket.

It's a great car -- definitely invest in a set of h-sports. On the maintenance side, check the cam tensioners, valve cover gaskets and vent hoses -- all are prone to oil leaks. Also check the tail shaft for leaks and be aware the torque converters are know to have issues. there is a TSB on the item. Do not lower the air suspension too much -- you'll bend the frame over time.

There is also a recall on the gas tank, make sure they do that before delivery. And remember CPO is a warranty only, not a real inspection of the car, so have your mechanic go over it carefully.

Here's the best advice you will ever get. Get the best AR you can find if possible an 05 in blue, black or White (if you are that lucky), paint the lowers and bumpers, lower it, Chip it, get awesome wheels, and leave the 1.8T to your parents. Tell them that they will save a lot on gas and that you are doing it all for their own good because you...Love them so much...

    How's that?

Dude I saw one with my own eyes, and I didn't know Audi had released that color ever. I wonder if the guy just painted it or if it was a special order. It had the bumpers and fenders painted as well. Pretty hot...
