    Coolant temp sensor problems

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I had a CEL light come on recently, checked the code and it was P0118 - Engine coolant temp circuit High input. So I ordered a new green top coolant temp sensor from ECS and put it in. tried clearing the code, but the CEL just comes back. Is there another sensor that could be the cause, or could the new sensor just be bad.

    Anybody got any ideas?

    Re: Coolant temp sensor problems

Does your temp gauge work? If not, then I would check the wiring back from the temp sensor and see if any part of the wire is damaged or shorted.

It could be a bad sensor, cant rule that out, but I would check the wiring first.

I dont know if any other sensor would trip this code but when I had the CEL for the temp sensor come on for my car, I replaced it and it didnt come back.
