Safest way to clean engine bay?

I would normally just take a power washer to it, but with the amount of things under the hood on the 2.7 and with my high miles im reconsidering it. I have my engine covers off as well to make matters worse. Any suggestions, or should i just blast away?

uhh i use simple green and a rag to get in the small area.

start your car.. let it run till its a tad warm.. spray simple green everywhere.... let sit for 10 min or so.. then START THE CAR

get your hose out.. medium spray.. and spray it down... making sure to keep away from electrical parts that could get damaged.. listen to the car as your doing it to make sure its not stalling/sputtering when ur spraying it.

    rinse..and repeat if necessary.

and tire shine isnt bad for your car.. i used to do it when i went to shows and stuff.. honestly it works great to get that show shine but i wouldnt do it all the time..i it makes a mess somteims.

I used some Gunk foaming engine cleaner I bought at the auto parts store. It worked well and was quick.
