    More money, more problems

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just changed the oil in my car today and noticed my APR snub mount was cracked in half and my wastegate actuator is no longer attached to the bracket it was attached to. It is kinda just floating there next to it Not even sure of how it was attached (tac welds?) The car seems to be boosting alright. And I also confirmed that I do have a crack in my ATP manifold on the 3rd cylinders runner.

    It's just money right?

This is the 2nd one. It is the original design though which I obviously knew was gonna break, the question was just when.

    Re: More money, more problems

My actuator did the same thing, I bought a new one but in hindsight I think I could have just had it brazed back together (have a radiator shop do it).

If you need a new snob mount hit me up...I have heard good things about the Stern however I have never run one. I have the Neuspeed and it seems to be fine.

    Re: More money, more problems

    Strange.

My ECS snub mount is holding up fine after 50,000miles.

My wastegate actuator bracket loosened up (on the compressor housing) back in January (after only 3weeks of use). Put new loctite on the bolts for the bracket and it held up from there.

    Re: More money, more problems

the bracket is tight still. The actual actuator deal isnt connected to the bracket. I thought there were 2 bolts that went through the bracket from the actuator or something like that to hold it. It's hard to see on the car.

And the snub has 28,000 on it but who knows how long its been messed up.

That snub is installed backwards. There shouldn't be any metal exposed at the end.

    Re: More money, more problems

They don't compare. We just traded our 04 Jetta for an 07 Civic and it just doesn't compare, and it's 3 years newer. It's a little louder and not near as smooth but we needed a bigger car and it is. But it'll will get about 100+ more miles to a tank.

Yes. there are two little studs that mount the actuator to the actuator bracket. The nuts are probably oriented aft (towards the back of the car) if you're looking at it underneath. I've found the easiest way to get to them is from under the trans with a long extension and universal joint on the end. Along with a flashlight. Its not easy, I had to take that whole assy off when it was in the car to tighten up that actuator bracket. Its a tad easier if the car is on a lift.

There actually is a right and wrong way to install the APR snub...On the inside of the snub that little "ridge" is actually offset to one side and must go on a certain way. (Cant recall from memory, but I believe that the smaller side faces the front of the car; there is a wrong and right way though.....having just that little bit of metal poking out is the RIGHT way (like pictured above))

Yes, there is a little plate with two studs on it that attached the actuator to the bracket that attaches it to the turbo. It is held on there by two tiny little fill welds (welds through a hole) and the two welds most likely broke off.

I bought a new one from ATP since regular ground shippping is overnight to me.

DO NOT TRY TO BUY OFF THE WEBSITE AS THE ACTUATOR THEY HAVE LISTED IS THE SAME PRICE BUT INCORRECT.

For the eliminator series turbos they do a in-house modification to the bracket and the arms are different.

Call up ATP if you want to order and tell them it is for an Eliminator.

Here is actuator picture, you can clearly see the place that has come undone in your car

Yeah I believe that little plate with the studs on it is connected to the bracket, but the round barrel of the actuator isnt connected to that little plate
