Why are audis so slow stock?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just recently acquired a stock 2001 1.8tqm and its slow as balls. Its like the turbo never comes out to play(Actually never feel it engage ha)

Hopefully a chip gets me back into my seat like my last one did.

    Anyone else got this problem?

Yea, it does kinda suck that we have to upgrade so much to make it faster. Sometimes not fast enough. If you want fast you have to drop some $ from the start like RS4!

the S4 is a 2.7L V6 with 2 turbos and cannot be compared to a 1.8T since bone stock the S4 has 100chp more

And essentially the s4 can be concidered to have 2 of the 1.8's in the damn engine bay. Each one of those turbos is only attacking 3 cylinders. So you can't compare it at all.

And yeah, it comes down to it being a heavy car with a midget turbo.

yea its a pretty good difference... the 1.8 is geared low since it has less balls than the 2.8 stock... my car now has a 2.8 in it and its enjoyable

When talking about a whole line of cars that all have turbos you can pluralize them, but thanks for the lesson. I'm well aware of how many turbos my car has.

Re: Why are audis so slow stock?

The A4 1.8t is slow stock because it isn't an S4. If the A4 was as quick as an S4 then it would cannibalize sales even though the S4 is still a lot more car and a very different driving experience.

At one point you get tired of spending on your car. Well, I did. I've already put a lot of money on my audi and its only in repairs. I only have a chip + exhaust + suspension.

So It kind of piss me off. The car run fine, it get me from point A to point B.

Fuck it, no more money in that stupid car.

Its now time to have some fun (vtt/sea-doo/ski-doo) or/and get a house.

I dunno, that's just the numbers I found. I never ran my car as a stock car. Stock cars are boring.
    I don't care if I bought an R8TDI, I still wouldn't be 100% satisfied with it stock.

    Oh, I was gonna say..

    You need some serious help.

Still though, for your mods, 14.9 is still far slower. I hang (lose by half a car/car by mid 4th gear) (06 RSX-S, K20A3) with 14.5sec cars, and I've only got a catback and diode mod with around 18psi? +Slipping clutch.

Have a boost guage? What boost?
Could have a blown WG actuator and your turbo literally wont boost. Happened to my car a few days after I purchased it.
