    looking for exhaust

Ok so heres the thing, i have decided its time for the a-fo 1.8t to get new exhaust, but im not really into paying over $600 dollars for just a cat back, so i have decided to just build it and have my local exhaust man do the bending and welding. I have been looking at mufflers and glass packs (borla, flowmaster magnaflow) and i was wondering if anyone has any preference or knows of any other place to get them, and also what diameter to go with, i was going to run 2.5 inch. And because im sure someone will say it, im not going to run it with just pipe, i kinda like it that i dont have to yell to carry on a conversation in the audi.

    Thanks a bunch guys.

    Re: looking for exhaust

One of the guys here in town has a 1.8T w/ 3" DP and 2.5" DP-Back exhaust. AFAIK it doesn't have a resonator but he said he has a "V-Baffle" muffler 2.5 In/out, and it sounds f-in sweet.
From behind the car you can hear it spool and inside is nice. It's not loud at all either. He had it done up custom by another local guy.

disclaimer is that he's rollin a MK4 Jetta, but it's the same idea.

I know mine is horrible. I want to pick up a resonator and a borla muffler and have mine redone. I'd have to pick up the 3" DP from 034 while I'm at it too. I have the 2.5" techtonics downpipe now with a testpipe.
Here's what I'm looking at for a muffler
    Summit Racing
And I'm thinking about a glasspack/resonator somewhere under the driveshaft area.
That way I can put the Muffler where the stock resonator is and I'm thinking about a turn down, instead of a tip sticking out the rear.

Edit: FWIW I put together my exhaust for $400 the first time. I wish I would've waited 3 weeks more and just bought 034's 3" full exhaust. A week and a half after I received my Techtonics Downpipe 034 released their new exhaust.
My exhaust from the downpipe back is off of a MK3 turbo Supra. I added in one 3" mandrel S-bend to get around the rear diff. After adding the S-bend it fit up under the car pretty decent. Clearing the rear-most diff mount with 3" pipe can be done, mine hangs a little too low for my taste.
