It just registers itself as a 'sporadic' problem in the ECU's CEL logs. When is it due in for a service? If it's soon, let them know that the CEL's come up and have them either clean, align or replace the faulty runner. Chances are that they will check your ECU software version first, update it, and tell you go back the last time.
Since I live 5 minutes from the dealer, I usually don't hesitate to bring the car in when I have any problem -- that's what the warranty is for -- and if I get any lip from the technicians, I just make it clear that I want it in writing that I am completely indemnified should any problems occur while they tell me that it's nothing major and to come around in a couple thousand more miles. That usually gets them working to fix the problem rather than to procrastinate.
