    Timing Belt help

    2003 2.7T Tip

I have the rad support almost off and I can't figure out how to get the hard coolant line off of the rad. I'm afraid to force the top one I unbolted the lower.

On a side note...the inside of the headlight housings are like razors!

    Re: Timing Belt help

The coolant hoses have c-clips that snap into the coolant hose's lip to keep it locked onto the radiator's inlet/outlet.

You have to use a small flat-blade screwdriver to lift the clip out of the recess that it sits in and then pull it all the way out of the hose's lip.

Once it's off, you can start wiggling the hose free.

BTW, have you drained any coolant yet? You can drain the cooling system by unscrewing a hex head bolt located in an oval shaped recess right near the seam where the engine and the tranny meet. The oval shaped recess is a bit more towards the driver's side of the motor's bottom surface. You'll need a long reach 6mm hex key to get into the recess to remove the bolt. Once you do, it will rain coolant from that 8mm hole. Have the pan ready.

    Re: Timing Belt help

Thanks for the tip but the lines I am having trouble with are hard lines that are secure by a 10mm bolt. On line enters the lower pass side of the rad and the next line exits the uppper pass side.

Am I just being a dumb ass?

Ohhhhh. You have a Tiptronic. Those cars have an oil cooler that is part of the radiator. You definitely have to unbolt and disconnect the lines from the radiator but, I don't have my Bentley manual in front of me at the moment to look it up.
