DIY on how to replace this?

I am a perfectionist, and last night when I was getting the door for my girlfriend and I looked down and saw the red light on the door wasn't on.. I think the bulb died. Its driving me nuts.. Worse than the time the Transmission Computer died lol, cuz unlike that one I can fix this one!

Anyone know how to? I dont want to take a flat head and try to pry it out, cuz it looks like one you have to remove the door panel to get to.

Get a flat head or a small tool like pick and get it between the lens and door panel and it will pop out. I changed all my lights out in the car with led and that's how I did it. It will come off you have to work it.

Also check the light underneath the door. Sometimes they both are out.

Re: DIY on how to replace this?

If both lights are out, and if the interior lights dont turn on when the door is opened that is due to a faulty connection between the wiring harness connecting the door to the rest of the car. There was a TSB on it....

My car suffers from this problem

with the LEDs in your car, do they still dim in and out when your unlock/lock the car?

They don't dim well with the usual simple methods used for most incandescent bulbs -- ie: resistors. But they dim by pulse width modulation (PWM), which is what most cars do nowadays for interior lights since it's much more energy efficient. PWM is very rapidly pulsing the LEDs on and off, and the brightness changes by varying the on time compared to the off time (the duty-cycle) of each pulse.

Was there any kind of recall? Or can you recall the specifics of the TSB? By speakers cut out on the passenger side all the time, and I think this is the cause. It would be great to fix it!

Oh.... and wrap the tip of the flat head with masking tape to prevent damage to the door and the plastic lens.
