    reusing brake pads

Installed Brembo fronts last night I got used and they came with some DS2500 with plenty of life left. Problem is they didn't wear evenly originally, so I'm not sure if I should reuse them. I think they were packaged together as pairs, but I don't know which pair goes with which rotor/caliper, or which side each pad goes on. That's only 4 combinations but kind of a pain to keep switching them out. I also don't think I can see the difference while on the car. I would guess (kind of like rotating tires) after a couple of thousand miles of street driving they would even out, but I don't want to affect bedding them in.

Is this a bad idea, or if they seem to be working ok should I not worry about it?

Since it didn't wear evenly, I say get new pads. The cost of new pads, would be insignificant v. some problem when if you have brake failure due to the pads.I wouldn't play around with brakes, airbags, and seatbelts.

My first inclination would be that you could re-bed them in...I've done that with smaller (cheaper) systems and didn't have any problems, however, I would send an email to stoptech or brembo to get their opinion from a technical standpoint. At a couple hundred bucks for brake pads, I certainly understand your concern

    Re: reusing brake pads

yeah, I think I'll try to re-bed them and see how it goes. Even if they just work for the street, then that's money saved. I may not do any track events this year, and if I did it wouldn't be until August. I might email Race Technologies though, that's a good idea.

If they fail for any reason because you reuse them, would cost more than a couple of hundred dollars. I would (if it was me) gladly write the check to make sure my brakes are optimum.

not sure what you mean by "fail" but we'll see. I'll be cautious and see how they do.
