Please don't be the control arms...

So I've noticed a clunking when turning the wheel mostly and when taking off from a stop. I just changed my oil pan so I had to lower my subframe and loosen all the motor and tranny mounts so I'm thinking that's another possible cause? What do you guys think?

Wishful thinking against things that go bump in the night. Gitur@$$ back under there and check it out. Hoping it's something else won't fix it, and we can't tell you from a bazillion electrons away in time-space.

Did you torque the subframe and stuff while under load? Meaning, you'd tighen everything first, then put the car on ramps so its on its wheels (loaded) and then torque it all down.

Best way to tell is to get under the car with a pry bar and start pushing bushings.

I've been driving it for I think around 600 miles since the oil pan like this. You don't have the torque specs for the mounts and subframe handy, do you?

Re: Please don't be the control arms...

check and see if the subframe is at least all bolts at 90ft lbs thats what our wheel torque spec couldn't image it being any lower but check to see if there equal control arms sound more squeeky than a clunk sound

Re: Please don't be the control arms...

Ok I haven't had a chance to torque it yet, haven't been driving the car the last few days but I threw it up on ramps and checked the bolts, and it's not like they're LOOSE or anything...

Re: Please don't be the control arms...

Is there a certain way I should be aligning it before torquing it down? Also, when I got under the car the other day I noticed a little bit of oil dripping near the rear of the tranny.

I just noticed it also makes a small *clunk* when I turn the wheel all the way to the right, then back all the way to the left.

Why are they saying CV joint in this thread? I just changed mine a few months ago, how could this be the case?
