Oil . . .

I will be working on a C5 A6 2.8Q and had a few questions. Wondering what oil is recommended, any advice in changing plugs, brakes and rotors??

Mobil1 0-40 has been good to me... might be considering alternative in the future but for now it is working well.

I am using Iridium IX plugs and they work very good, it was a noticeable different when I changed from older stock fouled up plugs. Also I am using Magnecor Comp 8mm spark plug wires, best price anywhere is on apextuning.com for the wires.

Brake rotors, the best could be Zimmerman (drilled) ~ or stock, even Brembo rotors... most shops replace with those. and as far as Pads there are good ones from different companies such as Axis, PBR, Mintex, Hawk... all very reliable but each person might have a different story to tell. Currently I am using PBR and they are working very nicely as well.

Best advice is being proactive with the maintenance, esp with timing belt and etc accessories. See if any suspension components have been replaced, like tie rods, control arms etc... lotsa people get it done under warranty, some do not... knowing the history will do you well considering you will end up replacing them sooner or later.
