    most of the fmic's you see on this forum are from those guys ... i hear those are better than rs4 but nowhere near as good as the awe/er setups

    i guess a good question is, for everyday driving would you benefit anymore from ER/AWE compared to these?

    Re: CXracing Intercoolers $399? Anybody have them?

    I have them. They are better than stock by far and have done good on hot days. That said they are definitely not bolt on. You have to take the mounts off your old ic's and mount them on the new ones. Plus there are no directions so its a trial and error trimming of your lock carrier. They have a fairly rough cast on the end tanks that I had to clean up a little with the dremmel. The welds look good though and they feel solid. I would consider your ultimate power goals before buying them. Up to a mild KO4 car they should be good, but if you are going for anything more powerful I would look awe or er for ic's.

    they are definitely on par with AWE.

    for about 150 dollars cheaper you can piece together that exact same kit. just buy their core and find some decent piping.

    Where is your data?

    The core itself cools betters then awe and er setups.

    It is the core JHM uses that many of us are buying.

    Lets keep this clean , but how do you figure?

    It may not do 100% as well, but it doesn't do any worse.
    And you can't argue $$/performance between the two :)

    98a4 did you even click the link? The OP is asking about CXR side-mounts - not the popular front-mount that everyone knows about. AFAIK JHM is not using these side-mount cores for their FMIC kit.

    i argue this with a friend all the time. ER vs ebay fmic.

    if you look at IAT data, the delta of the ER IATs stays flatter longer over the range of a FATS pull. something like 0-5 delta, with FMIC, its 0-10 delta.

    also, FMIC has more pressure drop with that piping (though not quantifiable since there are no probes to measure that metric)

    i would say that ebay FMIC is SLIGHTLY better in back to back runs and resisting heatsoak. i also think a eletric fan with a switch is a good idea for FMIC so you can pull air in through the FMIC by turning it on

    but yeah, you really can't argue because it such a good bang for the buck.

    as for customer service...well it's a side show ebay business, what do you expect for $80? you don't really need customer service either, there are so many write-ups and answers on the forums.

    LOL right on! this thread has nothing worth while in it anyway.

    we are really beating a dead horse here with this whole cxracing bs. everyone on here just doesn't want to admit that for a fraction of the cost of most intercooler kits for the b5 s4 you can get a intercooler setup from a mass produced sub quality company. but..... it still proforms aswell as most much more exspensive kits. even if its not the best quality (which i have NEVER had a issue) i could still buy 3 of these kits for the price of 1 from anyother company awe, er, rs4. im not like most of the spoiled brats on this forum and i accually have to work my ass off to support my family, take care of my house, and support my car habit. so ill take the $350 intercooler kit from china that works just as good if not better then most other $1000+ kits.

    sorry i just had to vent alittle

    Agreed! I hate the time wasting arguements about products without data or experience. I will never follow the forum mentality of paying more to get more either though. I have read countless posts on how great H&R coilovers are, and at the same time others are reporting blown shocks left and right. Yet after all of the bad H&R shock issues, people still insist on these instead of other brands that are looked down upon due to not being endorsed by the forums. I know this isn't a suspension argument, but I think more people should do their own thinking and use the forums for facts not popular opinions. On another note, I would also like to see some data on these side mount intercoolers. I would be surprised if they were better than ERs, but they have got to be better than stock.

    I would love to see some data as well, if only to have a bigger pair of boots on when I kick myself for buying RS4 intercoolers (well they do come with APR pipes).

    Someone told me the RS4 intercoolers were made to go with the car, and the pressure drop may be too great with others. He is notoriously conservative about modifications, though, and believes strongly in the Audi engineers.

    Re: CXracing Intercoolers $399? Anybody have them?

    They have done well in the summer heat. I lent my vag-com to my uncle so I can't do logs until he comes back.

    I have them to, but didn't do any logging before or after install to see how much they really do. I guess I can ask my boy to help me do some logging since the vag that we got is on his laptop.

    The CX Racing SMICs are not going to out perform the AWE SMICs.

    Stock = Core Size 8.5" X 6.750" X 2.688" = 154.244 cu/in

    RS4 = Core Size 7.125" X 9.125" X 2.5" = 162.540 cu/in (8 cu/in larger than stock)

    CX Racing = Core Size 8" X 7.5" X 3.5" = 210 cu/in (56 cu/in larger than stock)

    AWE = Core Size 8.5" X 8.560" X 3.5" = 254.660 cu/in (100 cu/in larger than stock)

    The CX Racing cores are obviously larger than the RS4 cores but, my feelings on the topic were:

    1. AWEs were larger
    2. AWEs had nicer fit/finish
    3. AWEs had shrouds, mounting brackets and all hardware

    I hate buying things twice so, I wanted to buy the better hardware right off the bat and not screw around trying to save money.

    Is the inside of the tank rough? Could you post some pics? I have from time to time thought about buying them. The cores look to be better than the RS4s and the IPPs, but logs are the only data that is proof of that.
