It would look better if you dyno the B7 exhaust and not post up charts/graphs of the B6 S4 exhaust. I'm sure the design is similar, but is it exactly the same that it will have the exact same gains?

Don't get me wrong, I love the exhaust!

I like the lower pitch that the AWE system has. I have heard a few in person and really liked the sound. I just wish that they made a 2.25" system.

    Re: A.W.E. Tuning B7 S4 Exhaust Update

What do you mean by 2.25" system? All the tubing in our system is 2.25". Dual 2.50" would be inappropriate for the power level.

Heck, our Twin1/Twin2 exhaust for the B5 S4 is dual 2.25" and we can do over 500 crank hp through them.

I could've sworn the website said 2.5" tubing yesterday and today it says 2.25". LOL.

    edit:

I did read it. Here is the description from puremotorsport's (purems.com) website. I looks to be the description as written by AWE.

"Each cat back system features an H-pipe crossover tube at the front to maximize exhaust scavenging for maximum power, as well as to take a harsh edge off the exhaust sounds. Tubing diameter for the entire system is 2.5". This is a deep bass tone, no matter how you cut it."

That is odd. They, like many of our dealers, use a modified version of our product description and they have all the information correct except for that. They must have accidentally changed it without realizing.

I fess up. Mistake on our end.

    Yes, our system is 2.25".

The 2.50" info is incorrect, and we'll need to alert dealers about the typo.

    Sorry!

My mistake. My favorite sounding exhaust and it's a 2.25" system. Alright, AWE is my new #1 exhaust. Too bad I don't have my B6 anymore and too bad you guys don't make a system for the RS4.

Thanks for correcting me. I hoep that Channa sees this post as he was wondering about pipe diameter and how it affects power and torque. Thanks for clearing up what I always preached.

I was right again, well sort of. Anywhoo, I am glad to hear that you guys use a 2.25" system as I always thought that a 2.5" system was too large for the 4.2.

In fact, that is why I went with Milltek over you guys. In addition to notifying your vendors of the typo's they are advertising, you should also call Milltek and let them know that your system is 2.25" just like theirs is, as they use this to their advantage as a marketing tool. Stratmosphere stated that the Milltek was the only exhaust on the market that uses a 2.25" pipe diameter.

I checked out the link on AWE's site, the description says 2.5" piping.

    http://www.awe-tuning.com/pages/shar...IL=b7s4exhaust

    so, it's 2.25"?

hmmmm...how's the drone in the dreaded 1500-2200 rpm range?

oh yeah, would the black diamond or the silver look better on my car?

I was thinking the same thing. Based on the silver already on my car, I am thinking the silver would look best. But the black diamond is interesting... I am curious if they would blend in too much with my carbon fiber diffuser...

Get the silver. I would only get the black tips if you are doing a black-out theme or have the titanium edition. Here's a pic of the exhaust on mine. Get it. You won't be disappointed.

Whichever way you go, please note that our supply of silver tip systems is VERY low, and our next batch is still ~3 weeks away.

We also have a low supply of the black tips, but much more than silver.

Thanks for your interest in our products!

    Re: A.W.E. Tuning B7 S4 Exhaust Update

I decided to buy the F.I. - full exhaust setup, resonated wih x pipe. I couldn't find anyone for a live listen but sound clips on the internet sounds impressive. Danny also said he hasn't had one customer complain w/ what I ordered being too loud. Exhaust will be installed next week Monday and I'll definitely post a clip showing the new mod. F.I. also offered the lowest price. HOPEFULLY, Mike will post my better/latest quarter mile results.

From what I am gathering, it sounds like 2.25 is less restrictive and in return less drone. Hopefully with my MT6, zrone is very, very minimal. Course, NOT thowing any CELs would be awesome.

Wow - 1AM posts no more. I should have had my 2nd paragraph first but didn't word that correctly either. My question was why 2.25? More restrictive...less drone? I'm hoping that with a MT6, if there is drone, it isn't too bad.

With a 2.25", exhaust gas is expelled quicker (like when you hold your thumb over a garden hose, the water comes out with more pressure and force). When you open the exhaust pipe up too much (like with 2.5" piping), exhaust gas does not flow out as quickly because of the increased diameter. This results in a loss of low end torque/hp.

With a turbo set-up, you actually want the opposite. A wider diameter pipe is better. That's why you see 3" piping on a lot of turbo cars and bigger with those turbo diesel pick-up trucks.

That's my take on it. If someone has a more technical explanation, please chime in.

Oh and yes, the 6mt is supposed to drone less than the Tip.

    Re: A.W.E. Tuning B7 S4 Exhaust Update

A smaller diameter pipe keeps the exhaust gases hotter. Hotter gases move much faster than cooler gases thereby increasing the total amount of air moving through the engine.
