Got a question for you guys with stage 3 setups. I'm on the verge of becoming a stage 3 s4 owner and a little concerned about reliability for dd. I'm currently a Bmw enthusiast but decided to do a little change for a bit.any input would be great. Thanks.

    Re: Stage III?

technically all the weak links motor based are replaced when doing stage 3. if you plan on driving your car aggressively to fully use the capabilities of the stage 3 power, then other components may start to see failure. i.e. tranny/motor mounts, snycro's, excess oil temps etc. if you do general maintenance like any other car, and keep driving habits within reason it will be more reliable than stock.

    Re: Stage III?

stick around this forum. you will see the various issues s4's have. they can be either very reliable or not reliable at all. mine is one of the amazingly reliable ones (and im stage 3) some people will not say the same all depends on the car.

just replace your o2 sensors, EGT sensors, N75 sensor, brake booster vacuum lines, new fuel filter, buy ECUx for logging, pressure test once a week (and fix/replace parts with any leak), make sure spark plugs are right type and gap, install injectors correct direction depending on injector, replace all worn/brittle vacuum lines with silicone, buy good clamps for everything.

then it will be solid. unless you have one of the random 'possessed' S4's.

How do you know if your injectors are positioned right? I get random miss-fires but I never get a flashing CEL. Could this be from the injectors?

Well I am supposed to have the AWE fuel kit and my injectors have green tops. So I am assuming I have the Bosch 440cc injectors. I believe that is what comes with the AWE kit. Thanks!

i *think* green tops should have connectors facing the fenders. but let someone else confirm that before you go twisting your injectors around

according to the install instructions on the AWE website, this is true.

    Re: Stage III?

Is the entire body of the injector green? (green giants)

    or

Is the bottom black and the top green?

    Re: Stage III?

    Those are called green tops.

Position them so that the electrical connectors are facing the fenders.

    Re: Stage III?

I am pretty sure those are the kind I have too, I will have to run out and check once it stops raining... What affect does the positioning have on them? Do I just twist them in place or is there a procedure I need to do? Thanks!

    Re: Stage III?

Just twist them in place. It affects the angle of the spray pattern into the cylinder.

    Re: Stage III?

Ok I just went out and looked and none of mine are facing the fenders. I turned a few of them but they are kind of tough to get to. And the top 2 don't look like they are even going to be able to face the fenders becuase there is a vent line on the top of the valve covers that looks like it will be in the way.
