    How to check tone rings???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey guys,

Well recently I have had my ABS kicking in a slow stops and its very irratating. By searching on here I read that one of the tone rings might be cracked. Now how do I go about check the tone rings? And where are they located? Also how hard is it to replace?

    Thanks in advance.

They are right behind the rotors inside of the hub. You can look at them by carefully removing the ABS speed sensors and shining a light in there. While you have the sensor out, you can clean it and possibly correct the problem.

VAG COM may be able to tell you which sensor/ring is the problem. Read ABS codes or pull up the measuring blocks for the wheel speed sensor while driving. << best done with assistance.

Sensor wiring is delicate. Don't pull by the wire harness or boot. Grab the sensor metal body and pull and twist slightly back and forth to remove.

Would you recommend brake clear or electronics cleaner?
