Video (AWD Launching 101) Compilation of JHM cars

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My good friend made this for me. He is also best friends with the owner of VAST, so hence the Detroit intro. All these cars are customers of mine (JHM) and located in CA, just in case there is confusion. Also my car is in there of course.

Some of the footage is new and some of the footage is old. But a great compilation nonetheless. I didn't even know he was making this video, it was quite a surprise that he took all the video I had shared with him over the past year.

    Enjoy!

Nice video, seems more like an add than an informational video but thats fine. I think he forgot to add one thing you need, stage 3 s4 power.

Or just BT A4's launching period, quite different from the low end torque S4s.

The South Bend Stage 3 OFE HD could do that probably. I spun 4 wheels before on my stock clutch in muggy/rainy conditions :)

The Vast S4 clutch is just a RS4 clutch with different disks as an option

    From their site.
    Stage 1 is a standard RS4 clutch, cost $495
Stage 2 adds a kevlar disk, cost $665
Stage 3 adds a ceramic hybrid disk, cost $695

Just about anyone can spin all 4 tires if they rev the car high enough, the point of launching is not to spin all 4 tires but just enough to spin them a little to pull the best 60 ft you can. No point in spinning the tires so much that you end up with a 2.0 60 ft.

thats the hard part :P whenever I launched my car at the track it would burn thru the tires (225 PS2's) and not hook up for quite a while, my best 60' was 2.1 :(

You cant just bolt a vast S4 240mm clutch onto your 228mm flywheel.

There are a few companies that already sell a 240mm clutch kit that comes with a 240mm lwfw that has the 1.8T bolt pattern.

Yup. There is a fine balance between bog and too much spin. I know I have blown them off so bad my 60ft was 2.3 once. HAHA.

Fun to watch on video at least.

Yeah it is fun to watch, just sucks when trying to get going quickly.

When we hitting the track again? I want to run in cool temps, getting tired of running in 100-115 deg temps.

Out here in CA we will probably have to wait for Fall or winter to get sub 70s again. Kinda sucks.
