Are all ballasts universal? Please skool me.

I'm looking for a D1S complete hid kit for the s4 bi-xenons I just got. I've been searching everywhere and the kit is too pricey and I don't want to blow $400.00 on some bulbs and ballasts that are used.

With that said, can I get any 35w aftermarket ballasts and hook them up to the D1S bulbs and ignitor? The bulbs and ignitors I can get cheap, but the ballasts are over $200.00, which IMO is ridiculous.

Simple answer in no..
Many after market ballast (all come to think of it) do not support D1S bulb types.
If you were D2S, then you have lots of options.

BUT..in saying that, I have a pair of Valeo ballast, connectors and Osram bulbs for sale.. $250 shipped.
These fit into the lights themselves.
