B7 RS4 side reflector options (Euro, painted etc...)?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Ok, the USDM side reflectors on the RS4 while probably very useful are absolutly ghastly and need replacement.

The orange in the front bumper and red in the rear bumper are an eyesore to say the least.

Is there any euro options such as clear, smoked or perhaps painted? The 335i has a body colored marker for up front that replaces the orange in the bumper and thats sorta what I would like to find for the RS4...

    Any suggestions...pics would be great.

Also anyone know how to pop them out for paint or replacement. A DIY would be awesome.

EDIT - Here is a pic which shows the aforementioned nasties in plain sight...

    Thanks!

Try Lamin-X film...I ordered a dark tint color and custom cut them to apply over the lens.

I painted mine..... To remove the front ones, you have to remove the bumper. Each front reflector is held on with wimpy alu. metal nuts. There is a way to pry off the nuts while keeping the bumper intact, but it's VERY difficult (I know from experience!).

I just recently found out how to remove the rears without removing the rear bumper. First, you should stick your head under the rear bumper near the exhaust (please make sure your car is cold) Then with a bright flashlight, look for a black plastic piece with white tabs on the inside of the bumper (sorry, couldn't get pics of this) Next carefully stick your hand between the exhaust/exhaust shield and the bumper and feel around for the black plastic piece. Then there will be two tabs, one on the bottom and one on the top of the reflector. Squeeze these tabs together and the reflector will pop out.

I hope I explained it well......

The Euro bumpers are much nicer. They have bigger slits, rather than the reflector:

    richib86,

Are you using the 10mm spacers and 275s? Also, are those different bulbs for your foglights? I thought about running a spacer but I've read mixed reviews on rubbing with 275s.

I've got the Stasis MS suspension w/aggressive springs, hotchkis sways and 275s waiting at KCs house today. I'm sure he'll love that when he gets home from work!

    Cheers!

Wow, thanks guys esp for the tips and tricks to remove the rear ones as posted above...

Ryan - your call now. Do you want smoked or body matched? Too bad ECS don't sell the rear smoked as well, which they should. We should petition them to!

Else - I could have R Jones paint the reflectors for you, maybe?

Lamin-X is a PITA to do and I have done that before...They are easier pre-cut!

Off topic - Does the 10mm come with extended lugs - I have 25mm spacers for my Evo and they come with built-in lugs and bolts to attach to stock hub.
    Trick piece...

10mm spacers need longer bolts.... 15mm and higher need stud conversion (like your 25mm) usually. But, please do not smoke the reflectors!! COLOR-MATCH them!!

Euro bumper looks amazing! I'm sure that's quite spendy though, so I definitely reccomend painting them. Smoked just isn't *quite* right.
Edit: Especially on a blue car. I was thinking black just because that's what mine is. Looking at the pictures again, 100% without a doubt paint them.

Good call! Since your color is probably fairly difficult to match, have the dealer hook you up with the paint or paint code. Hey, you bought an RS4, see if they'll do it for you! It's amazing what a difference getting rid of the glaring orange and red makes on the car. Have I mentioned how awesome it is yet?!

    Hi,
I live in belgium, i had a dream to own a rs4 cabrio.
But here in belgium you had to pay allot of taxes, so i bought a A4 cabrio an started my conversion in a rs4 cabrio.
I changes nearlly everything expectly the SML on the front bumper.
I couldn't find the SML for the front bumper of a rs4.

I think it depends on the color of the car.

On some colors it adds visual interest and breaks up the monotony of having a big area of a single color. For others, it looks out of place. I think it comes down to personal preference.
