Vandalized AGAIN

So some of you may remember back when my car got keyed back in september. (http://forums.fourtitude.com/zerothread?id=3469616)

My car needed a paint job anyways so I didn't go through insurance as I didn't want to raise my premiums and already had it budgeted into my finances that it needed a Paint job.

I come out of my house today and my car is completely covered in...something. All my paint is bubbling/peeling and on the driveway there is all this greasy stuff. Looks like brake fluid to me.

Last Saturday, someone stole my valve stem caps. Few months ago my car got keyed (as mentioned above). The GTI that I owned previously got stolen and completely burned. Before that it got paintballed.

I would bet money that is brake or clutch fluid. They both have very paint caustic qualities.

Looks like paint remover, and that sucks! Definately file a police report. Probably won't do anything but they are likely to send more patrols through the area. The sucky thing is that it is most likely someone you know. Ex girlfriend maybe? Neighbor? Co worker? Or just someone you cut off one day that followed you home.

WTF whoever did this should die slowly and painfully (its most probably the same ppl doing this to u again and again) wat r the odds that 5 different assholes would do 5 different things to your cars in such a short span. set up cameras (you could find a camera for 50 bucks) around your house and cacth the ******s

Nobody. I talk to 3 people at work and maybe 5 friends on a daily basis. Other than that, I am at home or at the gym. I am not very social at all. Never go to bars, never start **** with anyone. Also, as far as I know I don't have any 'beef' with anyone. Clearly someone has something against me.

I went to the police reporting center this morning and filed a claim. There is absolutely nothing they can do (no surprise) but its better having it officially filed incase something comes up in the future.

Neighbour? Nope, two 60+ year old seniors that mind their own business. Co-workers? Nope, only talk to 3-4 and we're all friends.

I don't drive like a douche either. I'm constantly watching my MPG as I do a lot of traveling and gas is expensive.

Ex-girlfriend and I are on good terms and we speak every now and then. There is no reason she would do this to me.

New girlfriend's ex? Very hard to say. I met my new girlfriend about 2 months ago and my car got keyed back in september. Also, my new girlfriend lives outside of the city (3 hrs) and I never met her ex bf nor does he know I am with her.

Do you have a garage you can park your car in, If not, maby rent out some garage space from your older nebighours.

The plan is to park the car in a garage starting today. We are selling one of our nicer cars (3 car garage, all nice cars inside) and I am going to start using the garage daily.

On top of that, I am setting up motion detecting cameras this weekend as well as a motion detecting light to flick on whenever someone comes onto the driveway. Cameras will be streaming to an extra PC that I have in the basement and will record the driveway nightly.

I was at home at 10:30pm the night this happened and went to bed around 11:30pm. I woke up to seeing this crap. I am from a foreign country myself though :P

I have to file from insurance. The damages are STEEP. Estimated at $7000

Thats the plan so far. I am going to setup some security and start parking in the garage once that third car sells. I would really love to just find out who this absolute coward is? What is this proving or solving? Nothing other than me having to drive my 1996 Tercel Beater in the meantime.

I don't know the circumstances, did this happen in different locations?? Maybe you should narrow it down by telling one of your "friends" where you'll be on a certain day and see if someone shows up at the location. Understand? Try to weed out people one at a time by telling them something only you and the culprit would know. It's someone you know, either a friend or someone who knows you on the these boards.

I think its time for you to invest in a security camera if this is happening at your house, its gonna save you a lot of money if it ends up catching people in the future because unless you catch these kids I don't think its gonna stop

I lve in a remote area and use several of these one of which is in my driveway entrance as well as other key locations. These are a cheap way to covertly signal when someone approaches. Personally, I would set up two of these covering both sides of the car and leave your car outside in the hopes of the arsehole(s) returning. Parking your car inside will not (or delay) catching the perp.

I was just talking to my boss about this chime actually. He told me he has the exact same type of system that chimes/beeps in the house whenever someone is in the proximity of wherever you setup the sensors.

I may just do a little sting op like that after my car gets painted and before we get rid of the third car that is taking up the garage. Thanks for the advice as I didn't know that sort of thing existed until you and my boss pointed it out.

Maybe its mistaken identity. Almost all the TT's I've ever seen is silver. Maybe there's an A-hole TT driver out there and they think it's you.When you repaint, you may want to consider a color change.

Looks like they used paint stripper in those aluminum cans with the small nozzles to spray the side of your car. This is so horrible.

I don't even know how I would react to this other than tons and tons of anger. It sucks to think that if you do get the car repainted (silver is hard to match so you have to do the whole car most likely) then this could just happen again eventually.

Just so you're aware:
If you have comprehensive coverage on your insurance it will cover it.
Your rates DO NOT legally go up unless you are IN the car at the time of the reporting accident. Same would be true of a hit and run in a parking lot. Your rates won't go up unless you were operating the car during the time of incident.
File the Police Report then get a copy or the report # and call up the insurance. That's what you pay thousands a year for, for them to cover crap like this.
