Urgent Key Fob Help.

I just made the idiot mistake of running my key through the washing machine . The key still works in the door and the ignition, but the buttons are not working. I'm going to try replacing the battery, but if that doesn't work, am I fucked?
Any suggestions? Or will i have to drop a few hundred dollars at my local stealership to get a new key?

^^let it air sry for awhile, change the battery then try it!

Set it out in the sun. I jumped in a pool once with my cell phone in my pocket. I took out the A/C vent in my truck and set the phone in there with the heat on, it still worked after it dried.
