S4 bi-xenon ecodes just showed up!

One more piece to the puzzle showed up today. Ok, so it's two parts, but you guys know what I mean. I now have an excellent set of Euro S4 bi-xenons, and I have no idea what other bits I need to install them. Do I need the switch for the DRLs and headlight adjustment that goes in the blanking plate next to the headlight switch? What parts do I need to enable the city lights? Where the hell do I get ballast now? 5gl right? It seems like a lot of this has been asked before, but most of the threads go nowhere. Is there an end-all, be-all thread for this?

yeah, you need D1S bulbs, 5GL ballasts(these two are the most important). and some other bulbs. I am not sure whether you need wire extention or not.
Ballast you can get them from ebay. bulbs you can get from the classifieds or ebay

There is no such thing. D1S bulbs integrate the igniter. A ballast is still required.

Audmods.com huh, I guess any clueless amateur can run a webstore these days. D1S is a bulb that integrates an igniter, in order to avoid sending very high voltage over a wire from the ballast. There is no other kind of D1S. The people that run that site don't know shit. But what can you expect from people that claim their Korean made bulbs are the "highest quality HID bulb available" LOL I guess these fools never heard of Philips and Osram.

It looks like yours did not come with euro blinker sockets which you need. I just picked up some from Jens, Part number is 8E0 953 053. In german its called Lampenfassung. You also need 2 5GL ballasts and D1S bulbs, you can pick those up from akinaboy for a good price. As far as city lights go you can get the regular H6W bulbs or you can contact member Buttafuco because he is in the process of making plug and play LED city lights. Hope this helps

Are you getting your parts SUPER cheap? Or is it just more readily available over there?

I would say SUPER cheap, but you have to be patient and watch stuff on Ebay or check out the salvage yards a lot. My house has Audi parts scattered all over, and 95% of them are from Ebay.de or Ebay.co.uk, and to give you an idea of the deals you can find over here, I just picked up a full Oettinger body kit for a 2003 Jetta that my buddy has. Front bumper, grille, sideskirts, rear bumper, and spoiler... all for $370. And it's the real deal. It takes time, but the cash saved is worth it.


Now then, I need some help with these. I can use the H6W bulbs out of my stock US Xenons, correct? But where do I get the bulb holders and bulbs for the city lights? And what blinker bulbs do I need for Euro spec? These are straight off a German S4. What about those wire extensions? Where can I get those?
