Car smells when accelerating over 4K... what can it be??

Its not a clutch smell.. Fans are off always.. Definetely not an exhaust smell..

when in 2nd or 3rd gear... if i step on it... from 2.5K to 5K rpms, there's a very distinguished smell in a car.. not too strong, but i dont even know how to describe it.. Its not too toxic, kinda soft smell.... maybe a little alike as if something was burning, but not really..

what can it be? anyone had that before?.. can something be leaking somewhere? why the smell?

P.S. car has 130,000+ miles on it..... no check engines, no low fluids (besides powersteering, have to fill up like once every 2-3 months, leaking a bit...)..

car runs as it always had, no problems at all... but the smell is shitty..

hopefully the simple solution would be to just drive for a week and see if it goes away. a plastic grocery or garbage bag could have melted onto your exhaust if you drove over one. i had the same thing happen to me and that was the case. you might not be able to see the melted bag remnants, but if you're lucky this is the problem!

does it smell like burning oil or coolant? check for oil leakage on the rear of the valve cover gasket. check for coolant hose leaks as well.

If it smells like bacon your valve cover gasket is leaking.

I had the plastic bag industrial grade... damn people throwing trash out... smelled for almost a month..

could be your rear coolant flange leaking coolant onto the head. That gave me smell, until I replaced it.

I bet a coolant leak. When I had my old rear flange it would throw coolent on my CAT when I got into the high revs.

Could the filter in the intake be the problem??? Anyways, try to describe that smell.

I get a sulfuric smell at about 5K in my 3.0, only started after I replaced both of my cats through warranty at the dealer

If stock turbo, it could also be the seals in the turbo leaking. My K03 is starting to smell like burnt oil a lil..
