Alright well i was surfing ebay and well i found this Double-Din HU, it's not badly priced considering it comes with everything! I know it isn't a name brand and the display is cartoonish, but it looks pretty neat! i have a Bose system by the way!

I'd stay away from it.. looks cheap and I've never heard of that brand. Stick to Pioneer or Eclipse.

Re: What do u think of this HU??

emptiness? all double din units are the same size. there is still emptiness around the unit in the A4 dash which requires the metra kit and a trim ring. only difference between units visually is the button location and screen size.

stick with quality name brands, stay away from ebay ads with photoshopped images.

Re: What do u think of this HU??

That unit is made by VALOR.

It's a decent company with a lot of crap in their systems for a really really good price.

If you want something a little more name brand, I'd go with Pioneer. Pioneer products are excellent, as they encompass up-to-date components and add-ons and their price ain't bad at all.
If there's a particular unit you want from pioneer, there are plenty of Ebay sellers on the lot. Search for that one.

Re: What do u think of this HU??

ahh, yeah im a mb tech, so ive pretty much driven everything with a 6.3 in it except for the new SL63, ML500 is ok but its still a single cam 113 engine so not really a huge head turner, the new 273 which your GL has are much more robust, but that 6.3 freakin insane, lay down the throttle and it just goes, they even put that 6.3 motor in the R class, just in case you and 6 of your buddies care to go viper hunting one night lol.

Re: What do u think of this HU??

^^i drove an ML55 and it wasn't that special, felt exactly like our old ML430, which i loved the motor, but the quality sucked! The ML500 had lots of Low end and top end, but the problem was that it was too old, too loud, too problematic! the new 4.5 derived from the 5.5 is amazing, and the gnarl it makes is awesome! the GL550 was a beast though it hauled some serious ass!!

Re: What do u think of this HU??

I just researced the crap out of double din head units. I was really excited about the pioneer Avic-F series that just released until everyone who bought one had big problems(avic411.com). so i got scared and wanted to go with something else. it came down to eclipse, avic d-3 or a kenwood unit. the eclipse audio features seemed great, but navigation didn't seem so good, button colors were green and screen was just ok. avic matches our interiors the best but has some nav issues and ipod control is not up to par, which is important to me. the kenwood units seem all around great. there is a few different level ones, the higher 2 have 6.9" screens and every feature, but they have blue lights and buttons, which i think would look like crap in my dash. the lower model, DNX5120, has a slightly smaller screen and no built in blue tooth(but it can be added later for $120) but it has Garmin Nav and it has the option of changing button illumination colors and all of the other important features that i was looking for. some of the audio options are not as good as the others, but i'm not planning on building a competition system or anything, so they were plenty for me. so to wrap it up i found that the Kenwood DNX5120 has Garmin Nav, will match the dash better than most units, great Ipod control, Bluetooth capability, and enough audio options for most users. Plus it;s $650 on ebay, where most comparable units approach $1000. I ordered one last night.

Re: What do u think of this HU??

i just bought and installed the new avic f 900 bt for a LOW PRICE... what problems are people having? I have read some of their reviews and them having problems with their mic, I have had 0 problems with that... i even asked my wife while on the phone with her and she actually thought i was using the phone and not the blue tooth... i do agree startup takes a while, butthe radio itself turns on after 5 seconds... as far as fm station and stuff... but yeah, takes long for the menu to load up after starting the car...

the only other problem i have is that it does not stay on when having the key in off position... but that is not the unit's fault...

I agree, i've been searching around and looking at the Kenwood DNX5120, which has plenty of options for what I want. Althought I found it on Amazon for $629. Once you get yours installed, can you post up a picture of how it looks? Thanks man.
