Thanks man. It was a nice little project I completed this past summer. I'll try and get other pictures and post em up. It's so clean because the head was removed and redone with all new valves. The beginning of Sept it looked like this lol.

I removed cleaned and painted almost everything I could think of. Valve cover, turbo comp housing, WG cap, water manifold, I take manifold. So glad it's all done now...tuning the VEMs Ecu is next.

So how reliable are the C4 S4’s ? I am wanting to upgrade to one from a B5 A4. Found one for around $9,000 with 157k miles on it

I mean it is a 25 y/o car. That said, its a 25 y/o car that is still on the road and likely been well cared for and maintained at that asking price. As reference, I had a very well maintained one that I bought from a retired shop owner with 170k and paid $5k. I drove it from CA to UT for a ski trip within 2 weeks of owning and it never skipped a beat. Had many upgrades including bbk, fmic, exhaust, ho ignition coils, tuned, etc, etc. Wish I never parted with it. It was an awesome highway cruiser that still handled decent. It never let me down but for a spun starter and some typical minor electrical gremlins that often come with an older german car. Or any for that matter. The new owner keeps me updated and is still loving it after buying sight unseen and driving it home from AZ to OR without a hitch.

It also has one of the most revered audi engines of all time, the 5 cylinder 20v aan. It is one the best and most robust audi produced. The UrS4 is def a reliable car given it has been cared for and not neglected. I would say not abused, but they are made to be flogged and abused, just need to maintain it.

Currently on the hunt for another one myself.

All very good to hear bro! I cant wait to get one but it will be sad parting with my B5. I was dead set on getting a E92 335i until I found out the US actually had old 5 cylinder audis around if you look hard. I will do a whole engine build and get a xona rotor turbo probably.

How have your C4’s been bro ? What is good preventative maintenance I can do when I pick mine up?

Mine is closing in on 280,000 miles and starts every day. Since July, it's been my daily 80% of the time, since I don't want to haul a dog to daycare in my newer car.

It had a TAP tune since 1998 and I switched to EFI a few months ago. Car moves well, even with the stock turbo and upgraded coils and injectors. Although the body has some rust, the drivetrain seems unstoppable. Like @morris400 I have a volvo K24-7400 that I will be installing soon to take it near 320whp. In these cars, even 250whp feels like much more and can hang with cars with higher HP levels. The AAN is an amazing motor and they are easy cars to fall in love with.

Awesome man. This motor might be more reliable than a 2Jz honestly from what I have heard. I have seen how these cars launch and its crazy. My A4 has maybe 220 hp at the wheels but it feels like more. When I get my S4 Im going to have rods and pistons put in and start gettin things set up for most likely a Xona Rotor turbo or a bigger Garrett maybe.

The New Garrett g Series is set to trump the Xona rotor... you should look into them.

    I can't wait to pick another one...Soon!
My ur was my favorite audi I have owned. Smile every time walking up to it. Such a timeless classy sedan with that 20v 5 cyl rumble through the 3" strom exhaust. Really miss it.

Yes buddy. My car is currently in the tuning phase...@13psi the car pulls harder then it did @26psi stock. Once I get the VEMS dialed in and get the boost up to high 20s...I'm sure she will pull hard as hell. 350awhp is not out of the question but i think my 630cc injectors will limit me to around 320 mark. Which should still hang with alot ot high HP street cars. My stage 1+ would hold with a stock STI on hwy pulls

Not sure if you follow the various Ur groups on FB, or not. A guy posted in Large Chassis Audi last week with a dyno of 446whp on this turbo, a built engine and E85.

The most reliable German car I’ve
ever owned. Genuine good euro looks
and a roaring 5cylinder sound. Everyone
always asks me wtf is under the hood lol.

To me the urS & coupe quattro are my
bad habit. I’ll never not own them.
