ok, so my ex girlfriend (who im still friends with) also drives an 02 A4, she called me yesterday and said she got in a fender bender which fucked up her bumper.i told her i would help her out as she really doesnt know much bout this stuff. i was thinking of just getting the body shop to buy an S4 bumper and put that on there instead (insurance so why not right?) i know itll just bolt right up, but is there anything else i should know before having them do it? or is it just that simple? TIA

    Re: stupid s4 bumper question

    Front or rear?

    Both use the A4 rebar.

The front requires new lower grilles and fog lights and headlight washer covers (but I retrofitted my washer covers). The rear requires a new trim piece (that chrome strip).

The sedan and avant front is the same thing (same p/n). The rear is specific for either a sedan or Avant (there's two p/ns).

Got the PM and replied. Understand your situation. No worries!

Front bumper p/ns (taken from: http://audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=102671):
    8E0-807-103-T-GRU cover
    8E0-807-240-B-GRU cover
    8E0-807-787-A frame
    8E0-807-788-A frame
    8E0-898-193-A mount kit
    8E0-807-682-B-01C grill
    8E0-807-681-B-01C grill
    8E0-807-647-B-3SR grill
    8E0-941-699-A fog lamp
    8E0-941-700-A fog lamp
    8E0-955-275-B-GRU cap
    8E0-955-276-B-GRU cap

I think the headlight washer covers are in there. You really don't need all of those parts. I've got a list at home of the bare minimum needed to do the conversion.

it's easy and I can answer that for you. you cut some of cover support off to make it flush. you never saw a picture of the S4 front on my car?
btw, i didn't have time to send you the part number last night. I got home after 10 last night.

If you look at your stock covers there are two tabs that protrude into the bumper when the covers are in the closed state. Kind of like alignment tabs or some thing. The S4 bumper only has a hole for only one of those tabs. I just drilled a second hole in the bumper.

The fitment is not 100% but to the untrained eye you can not tell the covers are not for the S4 bumper.

I did this out of necessity. I was taking my parts to my painter and realized at the 11th hour the A4 covers don't fit 100%.

If that made no sense let me know and I'll go snap some photos. My bumper is sitting wrapped in a blanket in my garage since my car is in pieces right now.

    Re: stupid s4 bumper question

I have one more question about this bumper.. aren't the foglights relocated to the center as appose to our lights being on the outside? Or am I just crazy, if they are in the middle is there an issue with FMIC piping not fitting with the fogs?

well what size is your IC piping?
you dont have to run the fog lights on the car.

    Re: stupid s4 bumper question

S4 fog lights are still on the outside. Same location as the A4. The way they interface (mount) into the bumper is different. Hence the requirement for S4 fog lights when swapping over the bumper. They are the same housing which

Everything fits with my FMIC. Had to trim the driver side fog light grille but it was just on the backside. You can't see anything from within 2ft of the car.

Ok.. I just went back and looked at some more picks to comfirm... not sure on the pipe size still waiting for it.. but it is the AWE, so I don't think it'll be larger than what Doug is running... thanks for the comfirmation and info on the fog lights and grills, now I can order.. :)

Been searching to double check whats required to swap my stock bumper over to a s4 bumper.

    So far I have:

    b6 s4 bumper
    s4 fogs/grills

Good comment above about the washer covers I wasn't sure about these.

does the tow eye cover just swap over?

Only other thing I have not got is the center lower grill. After that I should be good to go?
