    Dome light stays on

    So i just got my a4 like a week or two ago and i noticed sometimes my front and rear dome lights stay on while im driving. Theres no door ajar sign, the trunks not open, idk what it is. Any ideas?

    As a follow up, it was the driver's side door not being detected as shut. (my pixels are bad in the screen so it didnt show up) but on that note does anyone know where the sensor is for the door open/close?

    Got VAG COM?

    Open the Central Locking Module and goto Measuring Block 001

    The door switch inputs are:

    xxxx xxx xxxx xxxx

    1 2 3 4......5 6 7......8 9 10 11......12 13 14 15

    5 Rear & Passenger door switches

    6 Front door switches

    7 Hood

    12 Rear Lid switch

    1=open 0=closed

    So to de-obfuscate:

    Block 5 thru 7:
    110 Passenger door open
    010 Driver
    100 Rear Doors open **

    Block 12-15:
    1100 Trunk lid open **

    It should be all zeds if all doors are closed
    and switches are working correctly.

    I found out its my door sensor giving me door ajar even when the door is shut. Anyone know of anyway to get to the sensor to see if its working properly? Ive looked and cant find it on the door.

    I don't have Vagcom but im definitely getting it at some point.

    most likely your central locking pump is going bad. the same thing happened to me a few days ago as well as my windows not working and my alarm randomly going off while my car was unlocked, replaced the pump and now everything is fine

    VAG COM and a cable are among the most useful tools you can buy.
    For the fronts, the switch is inside of the door by the latch.

    How hard is the pump to replace?

    My car isnt having any problems except this, windows are all fine and no random alarms.
    And it doesnt even always do it, sometimes it shuts fine.

    Something similar just happened to me(as well as other amusing problems). The problem was that there is usually a plug with the keyless antenna wire throught it, but mine wasn't in it's hole and water got in. There was some blue rust stuff on the connectors - the box itself is pretty well sealed, just not the connectors. I just took the box apart and cleaned the connectors with lots of water, Q-tips, and paper towels. If you're going to do this, the CCM (convenience control module) is in the passenger side of the trunk in a foam box thing.
    Whatever you do DON'T plug it back in until it is COMPLETELY dry. Water doesn't ruin electronics, water causing short circuits does.

    This is what solved my problem, YMMV. I take no responsibility for any damage you do to your car.

    ^^ Very True ^^

    If you want to speed up drying times, you can always clean circuit boards and connectors with rubbing alcohol. 90% is best but 70 will do.
