Supposedly you actually have 40 miles left when that display reads zero, because it is illegal to run out of petrol on the autobahn. I can't say I have ever tried though.

Drive your car until it hits 0 miles left, fill up at the nearest gas station and note the amount of gas you've put it.

Gas tank sizes:

B7 A4 2.0T/3.2 quattro: 16.6 gal (63 L)
B7 A4 2.0T/3.2 fwd: 18.5 gal (70 L)

On my B6 I still have 6 L of fuel remaining when it hits 0 km left. Good for about 50-75km.

I've ran mine for 20+ on 0 miles ... I've always figured that manufacturers give a little leeway to make up for people who are daredevils .... like me!!

I've gone 50 miles past 0 miles on dash(i was in the middle of nowhere) and it was highway conditions. I don't reccomend it tho

Depends on your driving style and/or techniques. You forgot to take that variable into the equation. If you add that in, you could get anywhere from 1mi. to what the guy above posted or maybe more.

You, as a driver dictate what kind of mileage that the car gets- not the car itself.

I always try to avoid it, but isn't it bad to let your tank get too low? Doesn't it introduce air into your fuel lines if it gets too low?

The gas in your tank acts as coolant and lubricant for the in-tank fuel pump. For it's good health you need to refuel at a 1/4 tank.

I run down to 0 every time I put 100 octane in. I usually run about 5 miles past 0 or so.

One thing to note!.....

In my B5 A4 I ran out of gas when the display read 25miles to empty, so be careful.
