hehe... alright.. here we go :)
So, it all started from me seeing a pipe left over in my friends garage from his custom intake that he made, and a cone filter that my other friend said I could have (brand new btw!).
So I got onto the DIY and worked it out!
so.. first we started off making the darintake holes:
after that... i took the pipe and the filter and started measuring for the best fit of the filter and pipe. Soon after I got a perfect fit, i just maked it with a sharpie, and cut the pipe and here are the outcomes:
After I got the perfect angle down, and the fit... I started packing the inside of the box with silicone to seal up if there are any gaps. The pipe was such a PERFECT fit, that I am not even sure if you need to seal it... but its always better to be safe then sorry, so I packed it down with gasket maker silicone that is made to take high heat temps with no probs:
The silicone hardens in 1 hour.. and completely dries in 24 hours so, I let it sit for 20 hours and assembled everything together. The filter fits PERFECTLY inside the airbox, just as a really nice expensive after market intake should :). and here is what the finals steps of the assembly look like:
Here is what the filter looks inside the box (you can see it a little) this is with the box installed back in the car:
Overall I noticed a great throttel responce improvement, and car sounds a bit better :) I love it!!!

Only two things i did different from the DIY were:
1. I did not use the Red Hot Blue Glue... cause i just couldnt find that stuff... I spend half a day going crazy around my area visiting home depot, loews, schecks (sp?) and every other hardware store as well as making phone calls to other stores to try to find it. Needless to say that stuff... just doesnt exist anymore. Also.. I feel good about not using it because.. its not made for high temp areas, and this silicone stuff i used is.
2. I did not run the pipe all the way to my MAF screen on the intake tube, I dont think it's necessary, and it was easier to just line it up with the end of airbox tube rather thank trying to get a perfect fit of it to the screen.
Overall this is AWESOMMMEEE!!!
